🔃 GMO Cloud is part of GMO Internet Group(3*) 🔧 Services: Web HostingDomain Registration
⇔ Redirected domains: rapidsite.jp gmogshd.com
GMO Cloud is one of Japan's longest-established business hosting and cloud brands, operated by GMO GlobalSign Holdings K.K. (gmogshd.com). The company was established in December 1993 as Aile and entered the hosting business in 1996, followed by dedicated-server services in 1999. A capital partnership with GMO Internet began in 2001, after which the business operated under several corporate names, including GMO Hosting & Technologies, GMO Hosting & Security and GMO Cloud. In September 2020 the listed company adopted the GMO GlobalSign Holdings K.K. name, while GMO Cloud remained its hosting and cloud infrastructure brand.
The operator is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market under code 3788, with capital of JPY 916.9 million. At the end of 2025, the consolidated organization had 962 full-time employees and 30 part-time employees, supported by a distribution network of around 5,900 sales partners. Mitsuru Aoyama is President and CEO and has led the predecessor hosting business since 1997. GMO Internet Group remains the controlling corporate group, holding approximately 52% of voting rights. The company is also a registered Japanese telecommunications carrier under A-11-3204 and maintains ISO 27001 certification.
The service portfolio is considerably broader than conventional shared hosting, covering Shared Hosting, VPS, Dedicated Servers, Public Cloud, Domains, SSL Certificates, Website Builder, Email services, Managed Hosting and managed AWS/Google Cloud infrastructure. Several older platforms remain operational for existing clients even though new sales have moved toward newer services.
iCLUSTA+ Shared Hosting is the main traditional web hosting platform. Mini, Regular and Pro plans provide up to 300 GB, 500 GB and 750 GB of SSD capacity respectively, with unlimited email addresses, MySQL databases, WordPress support and free independent SSL certificates. The plans support up to 61, 91 and 121 independent domains. Regular and Pro also include a commercial Movable Type license.
The iCLUSTA+ architecture separates server functions across a clustered environment instead of depending on a single conventional shared server. This adds redundancy for websites, mail and other hosting components while keeping administration suitable for customers that do not want to manage an operating system. Remote backup, security services, migration assistance, website creation and additional managed functions are available around the core hosting packages.
Cloud VPS by GMO is intended for customers requiring greater control over their server environment. Current configurations range from 1 GB to 12 GB of RAM, 2 to 7 virtual CPU cores and 50 GB to 800 GB of storage. Linux choices include AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Debian and Ubuntu, while Windows Server is also supported. Customers receive their own virtual server environment without separate data-transfer charges, and initial setup is free.
The main public cloud platform is ALTUS Advance. It provides 122 compute combinations together with virtual machines, persistent storage volumes, snapshots, routers, security groups, load balancing, images, ISO installation, IPv4/IPv6 connectivity and high-availability functionality. Compute resources can be started and stopped as workloads change, while persistent storage remains available independently of the virtual machine lifecycle.
ALTUS Advance is also the successor for older GMO Cloud infrastructure products. ALTUS Basic and ALTUS Isolate stopped accepting new orders on June 22, 2026, while existing users can continue operating their environments and adding resources. The former GMO Cloud Private platform is likewise closed to new applications, with ALTUS Advance now serving as the primary cloud infrastructure platform for new deployments.
GMO Cloud Dedicated Server remains available for customers that require physical hardware. XD-4, XD-6, XD-8 and XD-16 configurations use Intel Xeon E3/E5-class processors with four to sixteen physical cores, 16 GB to 96 GB of RAM and RAID1 storage. SSD upgrades are available, together with several network options ranging from standard shared 100 Mbps connectivity to higher-priority bandwidth and shared 1 Gbps connectivity.
Dedicated customers can use remote power controls and serial-console access, reducing the need for manual intervention inside the facility. The platform is a mature bare-metal offering suited to established business workloads, although its fixed Xeon E3/E5 generation is oriented more toward proven enterprise hardware than current-generation high-density compute.
Traditional Housing / Colocation Hosting formed another important part of GMO Cloud's infrastructure business. Available formats historically included individual rack units, fractional racks and complete racks. New applications are now closed, while the infrastructure remains relevant to the company's long history in Japanese data-center services.
Managed cloud services are provided through CloudCREW, covering architecture, deployment, migration, assessment, monitoring, security and ongoing management for AWS and Google Cloud. This service is aimed at companies requiring engineering and operational assistance rather than unmanaged infrastructure. Both normal business-hours management and 24/365 operational plans are available.
The broader portfolio also includes domain registration, SSL certificates, website building, email security, backup, vulnerability protection and managed website operations. This makes GMO Cloud suitable for companies that want to combine conventional hosting with cloud infrastructure and managed operational services under the same corporate group.
The corporate organization supports both Japanese and English information, while the actual GMO Cloud purchasing and service environment remains primarily Japanese-language. Product pricing is in Japanese yen (JPY), and there is no general multi-currency hosting storefront. This orientation makes the service particularly suitable for Japanese businesses and organizations operating primarily in Japan.
💰 Price & Cost
iCLUSTA+ begins at JPY 1,027/month including tax for Mini on a long-term contract. With a 36-month term, Regular costs JPY 1,155/month and Pro JPY 1,947/month. Monthly contracts are more expensive at JPY 1,446 for Mini, JPY 2,179 for Regular and JPY 3,646 for Pro.
An initial setup charge of JPY 5,500 applies to 1-, 6- and 12-month iCLUSTA+ contracts, while 24- and 36-month terms normally remove the setup charge. A separate surcharge applies in addition to the standard plan price.
The shared hosting service includes a 30-day full-refund guarantee covering the qualifying initial setup charge, basic hosting fee and eligible options. Domain charges and options added after initial activation are excluded, and the guarantee can only be used once.
Cloud VPS starts at JPY 858/month for the 1 GB configuration. Higher tiers are priced at JPY 1,408, JPY 2,618, JPY 5,038, JPY 7,238 and JPY 11,528/month for the largest 12 GB configuration. Setup is free. New customers can use an approximately two-week free-trial period, while eligible existing customers adding another VPS can receive 30-day refund protection under the applicable conditions.
ALTUS Advance follows resource-based billing. A C1M1 configuration with 1 vCPU and 1 GiB of RAM costs approximately JPY 1,650/month. The minimum 20 GiB standard root volume adds JPY 770/month, putting a basic practical server at around JPY 2,420/month before additional IPv4 addresses or optional resources. Usage is billed hourly with a one-hour minimum.
A 30th hosting-anniversary ALTUS Advance campaign runs until October 9, 2026 at 18:00 JST, extending the free-use period for qualifying new accounts activated with the promotional coupon.
Dedicated servers begin at an effective JPY 9,219/month for XD-4 on a 12-month lump-sum contract. XD-6 is approximately JPY 12,362/month, XD-8 approximately JPY 30,171/month and XD-16 approximately JPY 36,457/month. Initial setup costs range from JPY 83,600 to JPY 135,982.
A separate dedicated-server pricing model removes the setup charge in exchange for a higher monthly rate, beginning at approximately JPY 18,595/month. New qualifying dedicated-server contracts also include a 30-day refund guarantee.
CloudCREW management is priced separately from the underlying cloud resources. AWS Light management costs JPY 5,500/month with JPY 11,000 setup, Standard costs JPY 22,000/month with JPY 27,500 setup, and Advanced costs JPY 38,500/month with JPY 44,000 setup. Standard and Advanced include 24/365 operational coverage. Comparable managed Google Cloud services are available, while the Google Cloud billing agency service includes a 3% usage discount without an initial or agency fee.
Prices are generally displayed tax-inclusive in JPY. Depending on the service, payment methods include bank transfer, major credit cards and direct debit. iCLUSTA+ accepts bank transfer and cards across normal contract terms, while direct debit is available with monthly contracts. VPS and ALTUS accept bank transfer and credit cards, while dedicated servers also support direct debit for eligible monthly agreements.
🏢 Data Center
GMO Cloud's primary shared hosting, VPS and ALTUS infrastructure operates in Japan, providing a strong domestic hosting option for Japanese websites, corporate systems and cloud applications.
The former housing service provides detailed infrastructure specifications for a Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo data center. The structure uses supporting piles extending approximately 25 meters into stable ground and is located in an area with low liquefaction risk. Floor loading reaches 1.5 tons per square meter, while the building is engineered to withstand major earthquakes reaching the upper-6 level on the Japanese seismic-intensity scale.
Electrical redundancy includes special high-voltage loop feeds, N+1 UPS/CVCF protection and emergency generators capable of maintaining operation for at least 24 hours. Cooling systems are redundant, while fire protection combines highly sensitive smoke detection with an IG-55 gas extinguishing system.
Physical access uses an eight-layer security design, and authorized colocation customers can access the facility 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Carrier connectivity in the housing environment can include NTT and Arteria Networks, allowing customers to use established Japanese telecommunications infrastructure.
Reliability guarantees are particularly strong on the shared hosting and cloud platforms. iCLUSTA+ has a 100% uptime SLA with graduated service compensation. Availability from 99.99% to below 100% qualifies for a 5% refund, 99.90% to 99.98% for 10%, 97.99% to 99.89% for 25%, 90% to 97.98% for 50%, and 89.9% or lower for 100% compensation of the applicable service fee.
Cloud VPS has a 99.99% uptime SLA, with 10% compensation when qualifying service availability falls below that threshold. ALTUS Advance also carries a 99.99% SLA, backed by compensation equivalent to 10% of the applicable basic service charge when the SLA conditions are met.
✍️ Customer Support
Customer support varies according to the service, with business hosting and managed infrastructure receiving substantially more assistance than a typical unmanaged VPS provider.
iCLUSTA+ includes 24/365 support, while pre-sales assistance is available on weekdays from 10:00 to 18:00 JST. Customers also have access to a help center, technical documentation, maintenance and outage information, support forms and an AI-assisted support service.
Cloud VPS includes 24-hour telephone support. ALTUS provides technical assistance together with managed and premium support options, while its sales desk operates on weekdays from 10:00 to 18:00 JST.
Dedicated-server customers can use round-the-clock operational support, monitoring and managed-service options. Additional security management, monitoring and recovery services are available for organizations that require more direct administrative assistance.
CloudCREW provides the most extensive operational support in the portfolio. Standard and Advanced management for AWS and Google Cloud include 24/365 monitoring and recovery, while the Light plan is designed around weekday business-hour support.
The overall support model is particularly well suited to Japanese businesses that need a provider capable of handling both infrastructure and ongoing operations rather than simply supplying an unmanaged server.
🔨 Control Panel
GMO Cloud uses several administration environments depending on the service instead of applying one control panel to the entire product range.
iCLUSTA+ uses PlanManager, a browser-based hosting control environment for websites, domains, email accounts, databases, phpMyAdmin access, cron jobs, access controls and application installation.
Cloud VPS uses the VPS Portal for virtual-server administration. Plesk can also be added when customers want a conventional graphical web-hosting control panel.
ALTUS Advance uses the ALTUS Portal and cloud console for managing virtual machines, networking, storage, images, snapshots, security groups and other cloud resources.
Dedicated servers include the GMO Cloud Dedicated Server Panel, providing remote power management and serial-console access. Plesk and Webmin are available as optional administration tools. Plesk licensing begins at JPY 2,200/month for up to 10 domains and increases according to the required domain capacity.
🎯 Conclusion
GMO Cloud combines more than three decades of corporate history with commercial hosting experience dating back to 1996. Its current portfolio covers shared hosting, VPS, dedicated infrastructure, public cloud and managed AWS/Google Cloud operations, giving business customers a clear upgrade path from conventional web hosting into substantially more complex infrastructure. The strongest points are the 100% iCLUSTA+ uptime SLA, 99.99% Cloud VPS and ALTUS Advance SLAs, 30-day refund protection on qualifying shared and dedicated hosting contracts, strong Japanese technical support and a mature infrastructure background. The Tokyo data-center engineering also provides substantial protection through seismic design, redundant power, redundant cooling, gas-based fire suppression and layered physical security.
The main limitation for international buyers is its strong domestic orientation. Ordering, technical administration and much of the product information remain centered on Japanese-language customers, while pricing is based on JPY rather than a multi-currency international storefront. The dedicated-server range is also based on mature Xeon E3/E5 hardware rather than the latest server processor generations.
For companies operating mainly in Japan, particularly those that want domestic infrastructure, contractual availability guarantees, Japanese-language support and the ability to combine hosting with managed cloud operations, GMO Cloud remains a strong business-oriented provider with considerably more depth than a typical shared-hosting company.

😠 This is the worst hosting ever. Why? Because they are scammers they steal money from my card with no authorization.
