The Object Storage platform uses Ceph and supports individual objects up to 5 TB. API, bandwidth, bucket, and object limits apply, so organizations handling unusually intensive storage operations should confirm whether the default limits meet their requirements.

One-click deployment is available for applications including n8n, Nextcloud, WireGuard, GitLab Community Edition, Dokploy, Coolify, OpenClaw, Hermes AI, Paperclip AI, and Ollama-based AI environments. Deployment does not add a separate application installation charge, although the underlying VPS or VDS remains a paid service.

Domain registration and transfers are handled through the Customer Panel. The entry-level Cloud VPS 10 starts at approximately €4.50 per month and includes 3 vCPU cores, 8 GB of RAM, either 75 GB of NVMe storage or 150 GB of SSD storage, and 32 TB of outgoing traffic. Larger VPS configurations increase the processor, memory, and storage allocations while retaining the same general self-managed service model.

Storage VPS plans begin in a similar price range but provide considerably more disk space. Cloud VDS services start at approximately €31.20 per month. A current Ryzen dedicated-server configuration with an AMD Ryzen 9 7900 processor, 64 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of NVMe storage costs around €149 per month before optional upgrades.

Object Storage is competitively priced for backup and archive use. A 250 GB European package starts at approximately €2.49 per month, while a 10 TB package costs around €99.60 per month. Additional location fees may apply in the United States, Asia, India, Japan, or Australia. Windows Server licensing, commercial control panels, additional IPv4 addresses, Auto Backup, expanded storage, and other optional services can increase the final monthly invoice.

Euro-based accounts can normally pay by credit or debit card, PayPal, Skrill, bank transfer, and eligible SEPA direct debit. USD and GBP accounts mainly support card and PayPal payments. Cryptocurrency is not accepted.

There is no universal money-back guarantee covering every account and service. The 14-day withdrawal right primarily applies to eligible private consumers. Business customers generally do not receive the same statutory cancellation protection, while domain registrations are excluded because they are performed specifically for the customer.

An accidental automatic renewal may qualify for a refund when the request is submitted within 72 hours and all applicable conditions are satisfied. Approved refunds are normally returned through the original payment method.

🏢 Data Center

Contabo operates infrastructure across nine geographic regions. The location network covers Europe, North America, the United Kingdom, Asia, India, Japan, and Australia.

European capacity is increasingly concentrated around Hub Europe near Lauterbourg, France, close to the German border. Additional locations include New York City, Orangeburg, St. Louis, Seattle, Portsmouth, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, and Mumbai.

Hub Europe opened its first building in 2024. The campus is planned to reach seven buildings, approximately 12 MW of power capacity, and space for around 50,000 servers when fully developed. Additional buildings are being added as the company expands and consolidates its European infrastructure.

Contabo operates company-controlled facilities and uses company-owned server hardware. The data-center environment includes redundant power systems, UPS equipment, emergency generators, multiple fiber routes, several network carriers, N+1 cooling, environmental monitoring, controlled access, CCTV surveillance, and on-site technical staff.

The contractual service commitment provides 99.9% annual-average connectivity for VPS, VDS, dedicated servers, webspace infrastructure, and Object Storage. Measured platform availability has reached approximately 99.996% during a previous 12-month period, although the contractual guarantee remains 99.9%.

The principal international network operates under AS51167, while US infrastructure also uses AS40021. Both networks announce IPv4 and IPv6 routes.

AS51167 maintains routing relationships with Cogent Communications, Arelion, and Lumen, including infrastructure formerly associated with Level 3. The AS40021 network in the United States also connects through Cogent, Lumen, and Zayo.

The multi-carrier design provides alternative routes when individual transit connections become unavailable. Actual latency and throughput still depend on the selected data center, destination network, regional peering, and the customer’s Internet provider.

DDoS protection and configurable firewall controls are included with the main VPS services. These protections are sufficient for many ordinary network attacks, although frequently targeted services may still require specialized mitigation or application-level filtering.

✍️ Customer Support

Customer assistance is available through telephone, support tickets, authenticated live chat, email, the help center, and the service-status platform.

Telephone support operates around the clock with English-speaking personnel. Issues that require technical investigation are best handled through authenticated tickets in the Customer Panel, where the request can be connected directly to the affected service.

Live chat is available to logged-in customers with active services. The conversation begins with the ContaBro virtual assistant and can be transferred to a human representative when necessary. Chat support is currently provided in English and may be temporarily unavailable during periods of heavy demand.

Software installation, database optimization, website repair, malware cleanup, custom configuration, and code maintenance remain the customer’s responsibility.

Customers without server-management experience should use one-click applications with limited maintenance requirements or arrange external system administration. Independent off-server backups remain advisable even when Contabo’s optional backup service is enabled.

🔨 Control Panel

The Contabo Customer Panel provides centralized management for orders, billing, invoices, domains, servers, storage, support tickets, security settings, and cancellations.

VPS and VDS users can start, stop, restart, and reinstall servers from the panel. Operating-system images, recovery functions, console access, IPv4 and IPv6 settings, DNS, reverse DNS, firewall rules, private networking, snapshots, Auto Backup, monitoring, and SSH keys can also be managed from the same interface.

Account owners can create sub-users for employees or contractors and assign separate technical or billing permissions. Two-factor authentication is available for additional account protection.

Contabo supports cloud-init, custom images, API access, command-line tools, and Terraform-compatible automation. These features are useful for developers and companies deploying multiple systems or maintaining repeatable infrastructure configurations.

Optional cPanel and Plesk licenses are available for customers who prefer a conventional graphical interface for websites, email accounts, databases, domains, and hosting subscriptions. These commercial licenses are not included with every server and should be added to the monthly cost calculation.

Object Storage includes dedicated management functions and S3-compatible API credentials. Customers can create buckets, generate access keys, and connect external tools without operating a separate virtual server.

🎯 Conclusion

Contabo remains one of the strongest value-oriented providers in the international VPS market. Its main advantage is the large amount of CPU, RAM, storage, and traffic available at relatively low monthly prices.

The portfolio extends well beyond ordinary virtual servers. Customers can combine general-purpose VPS, storage-optimized VPS, dedicated-resource VDS systems, physical servers, Windows environments, GPU infrastructure, S3-compatible storage, domains, private networks, and automated application deployment within one account.

Operating its own autonomous systems and maintaining relationships with several major international carriers provides more network control than is normally available from a small hosting reseller.

The principal limitation is the self-managed service model. The low base price does not include continuous administration of operating systems, databases, websites, or customer applications. Projects requiring premium managed assistance or application-level service guarantees may need an external administrator or a different service category.

The 14-day cancellation right is mainly intended for eligible consumers rather than functioning as a universal hosting trial. Location surcharges, Windows licenses, additional IP addresses, backup services, and commercial control panels can also raise the final cost above the initial headline price.

Contabo is particularly suitable for developers, system administrators, digital agencies, technically capable small businesses, backup users, and cost-conscious infrastructure projects. It is less suitable for beginners expecting a fully managed shared-hosting environment with extensive application assistance.

For customers capable of securing and maintaining their own servers, the combination of generous resources, international locations, automation tools, and affordable pricing remains highly competitive. Business-critical deployments should still include independent monitoring, external backups, tested recovery procedures, and properly configured redundancy.
