😠 PATHETIC, APPALLING, AND ATROCIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE (ZERO STARS)
Our business has been a customer of Melbourne IT for over 10 years.
We have always purchased our SSL certificate and the consequential renewal of the SSL certificate from Melbourne IT.
Melbourne IT automatically deducted the payment for the SSL certificate from our credit card on the issue date of the invoice.
Melbourne IT was and is wholly and fully responsible for renewing our SSL certificate, which we have paid for since the inception of the SSL certificate.
Melbourne IT precluded access to our business website by failing to renew our SSL certificate, in spite of automatically deducting the payment for the SSL certificate from our credit card on the issue date of the invoice.

This company lost my domain by not logging my payment it was immediately picked up and sold to somebody else I had absolutely no idea this was happening it took me over a year or so to get MIT to agree to a partial settlement for the loss and they're gross negligence of losing it they sent me my money but did not send it to me in American dollars, so they owed me more money. They agree to pay my replacement domain name for 5 years. But I finally got the additional money they owed me they put it into my account and then proceeded to pay themselves for renewing my domain name twice that was already supposed to be paid for. This is stealing money
When will somebody finally be able to start a class action lawsuit against this company?

Melbourne.it hosted my domain name for 16 years. All this time I never had the need for customer support. Recently all my DNS entries were modified and I lost complete access to email for a week. The support staff there were completely useless. Kept blaming the problem on my email hosting service. I ended up subscribing to their DNS manager and having to fix the problem myself! I immediately transferred my domain registration to my email host. Bottom line, their support is terrible.

😠 These guys sell .com.au domains for $168 odd for 2 years and the wholesale price is only $16 for 2 years, other companies like Crazy Domains sell .com.au at retail for $38 for 2 years!
My wife's domain had lapsed by a few days and we wanted to transfer it to Crazy Domains, Melbourne IT refused to transfer it unless we first paid $89 to renew it, AUDA the governing authority advised me that what they were trying to do was wrong, nothing had to be paid to Melbourne IT to transfer the domain.
Melb IT customer service was rude and got narky when I stated I had spoken to AUDA and said they did not know what they were talking about (this is the governing body for .com.au domains!).
In the end got it transferred with help of the new company and AUDA and absolutely NO HELP from Melbourne IT.
Never again will I do business with Melbourne IT or any of its subsidiaries!

They had an issue with their own system and wanted to charge me $155.00 to redeem my site when it was their system that caused the site to lapse. Extremely rude, Would not look into the issue I had just wanted me to pay the $155.00 ransom if I want my domain name. PISS POOR SERVICE! STAY AWAY!

I had terrible time with them. It seems that they do not know how IT works.
We have specifically asked for a Windows based host which covers ASP.net. Three weeks later after we completed all our files and tested everything on a demo host, everything from our end was perfect. Then uploaded all the files to MelbourneIT provided host and error messages appear. After a few days of spending time and money to figure out why the website was not working, we found that what they gave us was a Linux type hostingp. They said it takes 4-24 hours for propagation to occur, waited for 24 hours (Saturday),nothing happened, call them, they do not provide level 2 support out of business hours, call Monday they say the problem is my developer, the developer upload files on a demo host, everything working fine, coming back to MelbourneIT now Tuesday and still waiting for them to call me to just confirm if they can fix the problems or I have to go somewhere else!

😠 I made a purchase Online at Melbourne IT at 1.45pm on 30th May 2016. The purchase was for a domain name. I made the purchase on the recommendation of a Sensis Representative. Unfortunately that advise was not good as I can not use the domain name he recommended as it is too similar to another companies name and I do not wish to open myself to possible ligitation. As someone who is not very familiar with the IT world all I can do is follow advise given to me. I contacted Melbourne IT by phone at approximately 4.48pm 30/5/2016. I asked to cancel the product and for a full refund of the purchase $149.99. The first person read from a script and was totally unhelpful. I asked to speak to the supervisor. His name is John Patrick who refused to offer a surname for the record.I explained the situation to him and asked for some goodwill from MELBOURNE IT he blank refused to budge. There is indeed a place in hell for this company. It is February 22, 2014 as I write this. I have been trying to move my domain AWAY from MIT since November 26, 2012. I have all of the records for anyone that want's to see them. They have twice now turned OFF my domain for extended periods of time with NO warning. This domain is the core email domain for a major company.
I get no response from any contact I make with this company. I have had my other registrars try and contact them with no luck. Last year I called their main phone number and sat on hold for over an hour before finally giving up and hanging up. The call cost me $86 (US). To this day I receive no response. They are holding me and my client hostage.3209942

😠 They shut 2 servers down on Oct 30th, 2013 without warning causing thousands to lose their inbound e-mail. Denial, deferment of blame and customer DISservice followed. After 2 months of inbound e-mail darkness I spent over 80 hours fixing their problem. I hope they will lose million$.

What was once a professional organisation (I was a business customer for 10 years) has: become disorganised, fractionalised, majority of people outsourced overseas, do not keep their promises, fail to follow up queries, and vastly overpriced by the new competition who provide better local support services.

Be ready to wait 40 minutes (or more) for them to answer. You would think that email can be a better alternative but they will reply between 7-10 days.
When the finally answer they apologize for every little thing and hypocritely behave politely that you want to pull your hair out.
Ridiculous service, If you want to get closer to a heart attack, sign with MelBourne-IT

I have been dealing with Melbourne IT for years and have been getting ripped off by Melbourne IT for YEARS. This is how I got rid of them. First move all your dot com domains to USA ISP's using products like Goddady's Website Tonight. You just saved yourself a lot of money and stress. For your dot com dot au domains let Melbourne IT keep the registration but host the site in the USA with ISP's like Goddady's Website Tonight Hosting plans. Very cheap and very easy. The USA ISP's will give you a name server ID which you give to Melbourne IT and from then on you pay the USA ISP for hosting and Melbourne IT for domain registration. Simple, Smart and kicks Melbourne IT where they need it.

😠 poor customer service
You can sit on the phone waiting for customer service for over an hour. Their website claims that most calls are answered in under 3 minutes.
Their online help is useless and the search functionality doesn't work properly so if you are looking for an answer online, there is no way to search for it. (search pulls seemingly random unrelated results).
These guys are a complete dead end. There is so much choice out there I would def. look elsewhere.

😠 This company could not make it harder to leave it. My website is down because they make it a major mystery how to get my authorization code to move my domain name. I am VERY unhappy with them. And I am very unhappy with microsoft for sending me to them when I cancelled their service. This is my business, and they messing with me for their greed! I am pissed!

😠 Overpriced and possibly fraud
I've started getting Melbourne IT system generated invoices for $120.00 for domain forwarding. Within the email it is claimed that I agreed to allow them to charge me this when I signed up. Fact is, I read that stuff, and I would never agree to allow being charged $120 per year for something that is worth about $1.20 per year. I host many sites and have numerous redirects and parked domains and I charge $5.00 for the service. When I rang them to tell them they must be joking, they tried to wriggle out of it.
It's a scam.

Everything way overpriced. Difficult to update or change anything.
They make sure they get your money though, but everything else is a problem, your problem.
Also they make it as difficult as possible for you to transfer your domains to a different company.
Just stay away from them, you'll regret it.

😠 I have a business page that it theoretically hosted by Melbourne IT.
Their billing system is useless to the point whereby they couldn't manage to retrieve their fees from my perfectly ordinary credit card. They'd send me an email saying that the debit had failed, I'd ring them up, and it would magically work. Then they'd send me another email a month later.
This happened 3 times, until they took my site down without telling me. Then they deleted my data, without telling me.
They promised to get it back up as a matter of urgency, and 24 hours later it's still not up. Now they're saying it will be Monday at the earliest, and today's Saturday. Even if they get it back it will be a backup from months ago.
So I've done everything possible and they've deleted all of my data. I've lost all of my users, and it will take me no end of stuffing around to transfer it somewhere else.
If they were just useless it wouldn't be so bad, it's the fact that they go ou tof [read more...]
