Nov, 2003 : U.S. State Department to Colocate With Internap

📅 - Internap (internap.com -> inap.com), a provider of performance-based routing services, said today that the U.S. State Department has selected Internap's managed route control IP services to support e-government Web applications. Under the agreement, Internap will provide connectivity and colocation services from its Network Access Point (P-NAP) facility in Washington, D.C.

John Barrass, senior vice president at STG, a federal integrator, said reliability was a chief concern of the U.S. State Department and a key reason why Atlanta-based Internap was chosen.
"Government services are increasingly moving online and these applications require the highest level of reliability and performance," said Dave Abrahamson, vice president of sales and chief marketing officer at Internap. "Internap's business model, which intelligently routes traffic over the best performing backbone networks, is ideal for critical government applications and we're proud that the U.S. State Department chose Internap to support its vital applications."
According to Internap, it guarantees 100 percent IP availability, less than 45 millisecond latency and less than 0.3 percent packet loss across the entire Internet. These capabilities along with its managed network services approach make it ideal for government applications, the company said.
Internap recently acquired Sockeye Networks, an Internet route control firm and netVmg, a provider of equipment-based routing services.
