📅 - Hewlett-Packard (hp.com) said on Wednesday that, for the sixth consecutive quarter, is the leader in worldwide server unit shipments, according to figures released today by research and analysis firm IDC (idc.com). According to IDC, 30.6 percent of all servers shipped are from Hewlett-Packard.
HP said that according to IDC's figures, it held the number one revenue share position in Linux, UNIX and Windows servers. In blade servers, IDC found that HP increased its ProLiant blade server shipments 168.3 percent year-over-year and recently announced it has shipped more than 50,000 blade servers to date. HP also said it reclaimed leading positions in two categories. According to IDC, HP retook the number one position in x86 server revenue in the United States, with 32 percent market share and moved back to the leading position in worldwide UNIX server revenue, driven by its HP9000 and Integrity server lines. HP said its volume UNIX server revenue grew almost 20 percent over last year.
