Apr 15, 2004 : Cisco Unveils Data Center Initiative

📅 April 15, 2004 - Cisco Systems (cisco.com) unveiled the Business Ready Data Center on Wednesday, an initiative the company says will support network architectures that facilitate the development of the next generation of data centers.

According to Cisco, the Business Ready Data Center initiative will provide solutions, services, partners and tested design and deployment guides, allowing customers to protect applications and information, share computing and storage resources and support emerging service-oriented architectures. Cisco's collaborative partners for the initiative include EDS, HP, IBM, Microsoft and Intel.
"Today's CIOs are faced with lowering costs, improving business resilience and providing a platform for growth," said Pierre-Paul Allard, vice president of worldwide enterprise marketing at Cisco Systems. "Cisco's Business Ready Data Center strategy provides customers with the comprehensive technologies, architectural vision, design guidance and support customers require to build the new generation data center."
Cisco said it is committed to meeting the desire of IT executives for a networked data center.

📅 Apr 19, 2004 - Primus Acquires Magma for $16 Million - Primus Telecommunications Group (primustel.com), announced on Monday that its wholly owned Canadian subsidiary Primus Telecommunications Canada (primustel.ca), has acquired Magma Communications (magma.ca). Magma is a provider of Internet solutions to the Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa markets. Its services include Web hosting, colocation, managed services and Internet access.
