), an operator of Tier-1 Internet exchanges and network services, announced on Thursday that the US State Department's diplomatic telecommunications service program office has renewed its Internet access contracts with Terremark.

The diplomatic telecommunications services program provides telco services for all US government activities at overseas diplomatic missions. Terremark serves US consulates and embassies in Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
"We are pleased with the vote of confidence that the State Department has given Terremark by renewing its 'DTS-Lite' service contracts. Over the past year, our team has worked hard to develop a cost-effective solution, capitalizing on our expertise and carrier-neutral NAP of the Americas facility to exceed the government's stringent requirements," says Manuel D. Medina, chairman and CEO of Terremark. "As we continue expanding Terremark's services to our public sector customers, we look forward to broadening our relationship, not only with the State Department, but with other federal, state and local government entities."
