"Many of our customers house their equipment in at least two of our data centers for redundancy and geographic content distribution," says Christopher Faulkner, CEO of C I Host. "We have received hundreds of requests for a Silicon Valley location and we are happy to be able to provide it."
The facility will be completely owned and operated by C I Host. It is located in downtown San Jose and is approximately one half mile away from the MAE-West NAP, making bandwidth and fiber easily accessible and affordable for customers, C I Host said.
"We will be installing direct GigE connections back to the MAE WEST building to pull in bandwidth from diverse carriers, giving us an out-of-the-gate bandwidth allotment of 1000Mbits/second," says Faulkner.
The facility is protected against natural disasters and physical attack by water detection and intrusion sensors, closed circuit TV with 30-day DVR recording, infrared and biometric hand scanners and pre-action sprinkler systems. Round-the-clock security personnel enforce physical security with security guards at every entrance, bolstered by advanced instant locking and motion detection.
C I Host operates three other data centers, in Bedford, Texas, as well as Los Angeles and Chicago. The company said it plans to open a data center in London, England next year.
