Feb 25, 2005 : Azul to Launch Data Center Appliance

📅 February 25, 2005 - According to reports, startup Azul Systems (azulsystems.com)plans to launch its first product next month, an appliance designed toaccelerate and simplify the processing of middleware applications indata centers.

The Azul appliance works withapplications from vendors such as BEA Systems's Weblogic or IBM'sWebSphere. Its proxy software is installed on servers running themiddleware and it transfers Java processing jobs away from that serverover to the Azul appliance.

A single appliance, reports say, can workwith several different applications simultaneously and the companybelieves the technology can be used to consolidate all the applicationprocessing in a data center into once place.

The company will reportedly announce apartnership with IBM next week and is involved in discussions withMicrosoft. Azul's technology does not yet support the Microsoft .NETplatform. EDS is also reportedly in the process of testing thetechnology.

📅 Feb 24, 2005 - Domain Hijacking Story Still Unresolved - According to reports, an investigation into the hijacking of the domain name of New York-based ISP Panix (panix.com), launched on January 18 by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (icann.org), has yet to make its findings public. The domain name for Panix was reportedly hijacked over a month ago from domain registrar Dotster (dotster.com ) and ended up registered with Melbourne IT (melbourneit.com.au).
