📅 - The London Internet Exchange (linx.net) announced on Thursday that it would host the European Internet Exchange Association (euro-ix.net) forum on April 11 and 12, 2005 in London, England. Hosted on conjunction with University College London and sponsored by Force 10 Networks (force10networks.com -> hostinger.com), the forum will include representatives from 34 Internet exchange points in the US, Europe and Japan and discuss ways of coordinating procedures and technical standards for the benefit of Internet users. The forum will include workshops focusing on technical and commercial issues and the development of new technologies. A customer feedback session presented by the BBC will also take place. The program includes speakers from Cambridge University and University College London.
"The Internet has become an indispensable tool for the efficient operation of all sectors of modern society. This forum will provide an opportunity for IXPs, which provide facilities for switching Internet data between service providers, to discuss ways of harmonizing their technical processes for the benefit of all users," says John Souter, chief executive of LINX.
