Dec 19, 2005 : SAVVIS Unveils Virtualized Security
📅 - Managed hosting provider SAVVIS (savvis.com) announced on Monday that it had introduced SAVVIS Security Utility, a new portfolio of managed security utility services that will complement the company's security consulting and dedicated, appliance-based security services.
The new services are built on SAVVIS's virtualized utility services delivery platform, which deploys network, hosting, security, storage and computing on a utility basis.
SAVVIS Security Utility is comprised of in-network firewalls, distributed denial of service and worm attack mitigation for wide area networks, and virtualized security components such as hosted firewalls and intrusion detection systems. The managed offering does not required any software of hardware installation and customers can manage their services through the SAVVIS portal.
"Security is a top priority for SAVVIS's enterprise customers," says Chris Richter, vice president and general manager of security products and services at SAVVIS. "The challenge has been how to deliver multi-layered security across all IT systems without building out a complex hardware infrastructure of security devices. SAVVIS's Security Utility solves that problem by allowing businesses to easily layer on virtualized security services that deliver on value and performance, while maintaining security best practices, and compliance."
