Dec, 2016 : Yahoo Announced, One Billion Accounts Were Hacked in 2013

📅 - Yahoo has revealed that they were a victim of the largest hack in the world in 2013, which impacted one billion account holders. The first disclosure from the hack happened in 2014, which they admitted included 500 million accounts including email addresses and passwords.

Yahoo was established in 1994 and was once the acquisition target of Microsoft. However, they suffered a loss of $4.3 billion in 2015 and downsized 15% of the workforce to improve profitability. This announcement is another huge setback for Yahoo as they are still trying to sell the company.

Verizon is still interested in acquiring Yahoo, but has asked for a $1 billion discount due to the hacking reports.
