Matt Parker decided to explore the mysteries of data centers and figure out where the cloud lives. Parker, a UK visual artist and composer is responsible for a new documentary called “The People's Cloud”.
The documentary reveals some of the mysteries behind cloud computing and how it works. It takes an in-depth look at the networks, energy, data centers and people behind the cloud infrastructure. .

📅 - Amazon Now Offering Free Security Certificates - Amazon, a cloud hosting giant, recently announced they will offer free Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TSL) certificates. Both of these security certificates offer an additional layer of security for websites.
Most cloud hosting providers offer the same TSL and SSL certificates for up to $50 per year. The certificates will be available through the Amazon Certificate Manager and currently are only available in the US East region for Amazon. However, they are working to make them available more generally. .
📅 - WordPress Budgets for Many Agencies Projected to go up in 2016 - A survey done by Pantheon revealed that many agencies are planning to increase their WordPress project budgets for 2016. This is in response to the growing traffic WordPress sites are receiving.
The survey was done in November 2015 and covered 323 of the WordPress developers in Pantheon's network of 2,000 agencies. They found that over 70% of the agencies they surveyed expect their WordPress site traffic to grow this ...
📅 - Cloud Service Providers Largely Unaffected by Winter Storm Jonas - The United States northern East coast received record snowfall over the weekend due to Winter Storm Jonas, causing speculation and worry that there would be outages and interruptions in operations for cloud service providers. However, the cloud infrastructure powering websites and services in the region was, for the most part, unaffected.
Major cloud services' service status pages confirmed that there were no disruptions in affected areas. It was noted that Winter Storm Jonas was unlikely to cause outages or negative effects on cloud infrastructure.
