A $1 Billion Donation of Cloud Computing for Researchers and Non-profits coming from Microsoft

📅 January 20, 2016 - Recently, Microsoft, a giant in the cloud computing industry, announced they will be donating $1 billion of cloud computing services to researchers and non-profit organizations. The company is headquartered in Richmond, Washington and the pledge was made in Switzerland yesterday by CEO Satya Nadella.

Microsoft Philanthropies will managed the donation, which will benefit around 70,000 groups and individuals. The donation will be spread over three years.
