Jan 8, 2008 : Gandi.Net Launches Web Hosting Beta

📅 January 8, 2008 - France-based domain registrar Gandi.Net (gandi.net ) announced on Tuesday that it has begun offering Web hosting services.

The company says that its plans will be flexible in that temporary or short-term needs will be met and customers won't be tied to a year-long contract. The company is offering dedicated servers and managed hosting services, which will be hosted on Dell PowerEdge 6950 servers featuring Quad Dual-Core AMD, 16GB of RAM and 2GBs of connectivity plus 320GB of disk space on a RAID 6 disk.

Customers will have the option of having their server installed using Gandi AutoInstall, an automatic installation for those unfamiliar with installations or configurations. With Gandi AutoInstall, users can choose any applications and specify the settings that they want and the server is configured and installed by itself in a few moments. Gandi says that customers will also have access to Gandi's online communities to quickly find the answer to any inquiries they might have.

Because not all the planned services are available due to some servers still being installed at various sites, the beta hosting plan is being offered at a lower rate than will be priced in the final version. Currently, the hosting beta is available for $7.50 per month.
