Jun, 2001 : Register.com and Registro Brasil to Provide Domains

📅 June 19, 2001 - Register.com, Inc., a leading provider of global domain registration and Internet services, announced an alliance with Registro Brasil, the first private registrar in Brazil, on Tuesday in an effort to offer full service domain registration and security services to Registro Brasil customers.

As part of the deal, Register.com will power Registro Brasil's registration services for generic top level domains, including names with multilingual characters such as tildes, cedilla and accents. In addition, Register.com will support Registro Brasil's registration for special-use country code domain names such as .ws, .to, .cc and .fm.
The partnership also enables Registro Brasil to offer its customers Register.com CommerceLock digital certificates, SSL 128 bit security certificates, designed to enable safe, real time e-commerce transactions, and supported by enterprise security provider Baltimore Technologies.
Registro Brasil is a leading Brazilian registrar, providing domain name services to over 3,000 clients and enabling them to resell customized domain-related services to their own end users. Utilizing Register.com's infrastructure, Registro Brasil will process all domain searches and registrations in real time, and allow customers to park domain names on its server for no additional cost.

Register.com will provide domain registration services to Registro Brasil through its proprietary socket-level application programming interface, Third Party Protocol. With TPP, a Registro Brasil can seamlessly connect Register.com registration capability to its own front end to match the ``look and feel'' of its web site.
