It's been a month since I've been able to access my website on my register.com account, without any resolution from them. I've sent hundreds of emails, and they keep passing me from one department to another without ever resolving my problem. Paying, however, is no problem; it works very quickly.
My website has been hosted with them for 20 years, and now I'm seriously considering switching.

😠 Watch for the Wolf Spiders on the Web
I am sharing this as a story of warning for those looking to register new domain names.
Most of my domain names are registered on godaddy.com. I have registered and non-renewed dozens over the years without incident.
Recently I decided to try something different. I had an idea for a class and looked to see if a domain name was available.
The domain name _____.com was available and I registered it for $.50 on register.com (Some of you already know where this is going.)
Looking at the fine print after registering it (duh, after...), I saw that after the first year of this smoking deal, renewal would set me back $38. Oh, oh.
I called up and talked with a very nice fellow, who told me he could cancel the domain registration and return the $.50 to my account and the domain would be freed up for me.
Should take 24-48 hours. Okay, great. What a nice guy.
Next day, I find that the domain is now for sale by register.com.

😠 This is the worst registrar ever!!! Not only do they charge $37 a year for domain registry, but when my client was 1 day late they charged him an additional $25 to reinstate the domain. (the $37 a year doesn't cover that?) When I called to see if they would wave the charges they said the domain had been registrered with them for 7 years and we should know the costs. Wrong... we will be transferring registrars immediately.
Register.com = overpriced, poor service, and does not respect loyal customers.

😠 i am supporting a small business which is hosted by resgister.com. their reliability seems to be soso (email actually was down for for a little bit), their site navigation to access their services is very confusing and not intuitive, their customer service was prompt but like a bad phone company they were trying to sell me more services i did not ask for and they are charging quite heavy for their products compared to other companies. i was not impressed at all. featurewise they do not stand out but give you the standard package.

😁 Register.com is great. I used other hosting companies in the past and was highly disappointed. Since working with Register.com I have not had any problems. Their support is excellent. My questions always get answered. Highly Recommended!!
