Cellonics Disruptive Technology Claims to Dramatically Boost Wireless Speed
📅 - A revolutionary and potential disruptive technology developed by Cellonics(cellonics.com) is officially scheduled to debut their new technology for the first time in the United States at The Wireless World 2001 CEO Summit(wirelessworld2001.com) at the World Trade Center in New York City, September 24th and 25th.
Cellonics has announced a new cost-effective,power-efficient modem technology that it claims candrastically outperform existing broadbandtechnologies; from 3G wireless and LMDS to DSL andcable modems and licenses are now available.
Cellonics technology is modeled on research in thestudies of how biological cells react when stimulated.Theoretically it can provide a thousand-fold increasein data rate in some applications. Co-founder anddirector, Prof Lye Kin Mun explains, ``The Cellonicsarchitecture has a lower noise (or interference)figure than any conventional receiver chain. And lessnoise means better performance and efficiency. Thus,the transfer of information is improved literally by1,000 times. The fastest wireless LAN transfer occursat about 11Mbps. Our technology can do it atapproximately 27Mbps,'' Lye claimed.
Cellonics is a spin off from the National Universityof Singapore's Center for Wireless Communications andComputational Science Department. A first core patenthas been awarded to Cellonics and, to date, a dozenmore patents have been filed worldwide. The technologywas first introduced at the Singapore Expo from 19-22June, Cellonics showcased its technology with a PressConference and subsequent technology briefings. Theresponse was tremendous.
