Verizon Selects InfoSpace Platform to Deliver Broadband and Dial-Up Apps

📅 September 7, 2001 - InfoSpace, Inc. (infospace.com) and Verizon Online Services (verizon.net), the Internet group of Verizon Communications, has announced an agreement for InfoSpace to provide comprehensive broadband and dial-up platforms and applications to Verizon Online.

Verizon Online soon will introduce dynamic newdestination pages, powered by InfoSpace, to its morethan one million digital subscriber line and dial-upcustomers nationwide.
"Today's announcement is a big win for InfoSpace inthe broadband space and is an excellent example of ourefforts to extend our infrastructure technologies toour partners in multiple business areas. In this case,Verizon, one of the world's leading providers ofcommunication services, has partnered with InfoSpaceon its wireless, merchant and now, ISP initiatives,"said Naveen Jain, chairman and CEO of InfoSpace. "Ourbroadband services are designed to take advantage ofthe high-speed connections DSL providers, likeVerizon, deliver to customers nationwide, as well asnext generation wireless networks, especially therollout of packet-based, GPRS networks by severalwireless carriers in the U.S. this year."
A new look for Verizon Online's destination pages isscheduled to debut in mid-Sept. and will include newservices and applications, with more to come over thecoming months.
"Our new destination pages will provide the foundationfor the development of a richer, more exciting onlineexperience for our dial-up and DSL subscribers," saidVeronica Pellizzi, group president of Internet anddata services for Verizon. "We are aggressively movingto expand upon our Internet access services byoffering a compelling range of personalized,broadband-based value-added enhancements that willappeal to a vast spectrum of Internet users.
