Oct 2, 2001 : IBM Opens Calgary Hosting Center

📅 October 2, 2001 - IBM announced yesterday the opening of the Calgary E-Business Hosting Center to provide customers with services ranging from facilities hosting to managed hosting solutions. The Calgary Center is IBM's third Web-hosting center in Canada and one of 40 centers operated by IBM (ibm.com/services/e-business/hosting) around the world. In July, IBM announced that it had signed $1 billion in new customer contracts worldwide during the first six months of 2001.

In the Calgary Center, as in other IBM Hosting Centers, IBM helps customersto integrate e-business with their current business systems and businessmodels by providing e-business consulting, Web-site development, e- commerceand application hosting solutions including Enterprise Resource Management,Customer Relationship Management and Supply Chain Management.
"Our customers tell us they want access to the highest standards ofWeb-hosting services," said Paul Lovell, general manager, e-business hostingservices, IBM Canada. "Our hosting Centers' operations and consultingservices provide technical and business expertise for customers' end-to-endhosting requirements, including secure, reliable and scalable e-businessenvironments."
The new Calgary e-business Hosting Center will provide a redundant andcontinued electric power supply. In addition, the Center will function with24 x 7 surveillance, electronic security locks, premium access to theInternet, via multiple ISPs, with 100 percent network availability, as wellas a complete support system for operations and security measures.
The new Calgary hosting center features state-of-the art Internet backboneconnection, firewall, security and management services, including:
Gigabit Internet access24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year support for customers' e-businessrequirements Security practices, including "ethical hacking" and securitydiagnosis servicesFacilities security, including a security card system and electronicsecurity coded key locks
