📅 - Switch and Data Facilities Company (switchanddata.com -> equinix.com),operator of carrier-neutral co-location centers, and Paix.net, Inc., asubsidiary of Metromedia Fiber Network and a neutral Internet Exchange,announced yesterday the signing of a strategic alliance that providespeering and interconnection services to customers of both companies.
This alliance brings together two of the largest vendor-neutral co-locationcompanies in the U.S. With its established nationwide Class-A InternetExchange locations, Paix will deploy its Layer 2 Switch fabric, "Peering byPaix," in several Switch and Data facilities. The first deployments willoccur in Miami, Philadelphia, Denver, and Los Angeles. Switch and Dataoperates 34 co-location centers in first and second tier U.S. markets thatfeature a high concentration of carrier points-of-presence and fully managedmeet-me-rooms.
By joining forces, Switch and Data and Paix will provide customers withunparalleled nationwide reach, connecting them to the most comprehensivepeering exchange in the country where participants in the Internet communitycan do business without interference from the facility owner.
