Jun, 2002 : Switch and Data Forms Agreement With Cogent
📅 - Carrier-neutral colocation provider Switch and Data (SwitchandData.com -> equinix.com) announced on Wednesday that it has formed a new agreement with Internet access and transport service provider Cogent Communications Group Inc. (cogent.com).
According to the agreement, Cogent will provide 100 Mbps and Gigabit Ethernet high-speed Internet access to enhance Switch and Data's SingleConnect offering.
By including Cogent's solutions in the offering, says Switch and Data, the company is able to offer its customers a greater choice in Internet access and transport services.
"As Switch and Data continues to expand its choices for bandwidth solutions," says Jim Weller, VP of Carrier Services for Switch and Data, "it was imperative to add a highly cost effective, high-speed 100 Mbps and GigE solution provider to our portfolio,"
According to Switch and Data, the company's nationwide footprint will further enhance the reach of Cogent's network, and its proximity to customers. Cogent services is currently offered in 13 Switch and Data facilities, with plans for expansion into Reston, San Jose and 65 Broadway in New York City.
"Cogent's radically priced Internet services have generated a lot of interest among customers of colocation facilities such as Switch and Data. We are excited to increase our exposure to the high class of customers located in Switch and Data's facilities," says Dave Schaeffer, CEO Cogent Communications.
