Jul, 2002 : HP Introduces Lights-Out Server Management

📅 - Hardware developer HP (hp.com) announced on Tuesday the launch of its Remote Insight Lights-Out Edition (RILOE) II Card, enabling administrators to manage one or thousands of ProLiant servers more cost effectively in a data center or at remote locations.

New technology in the card, says HP, is designed to enable faster, more efficient performance of functions like server deployment, maintenance and application installation without the need for physically visiting the server.
HP says the RILOE II card extends the company's lead in remote management solutions. The card, says the company, offers five times faster graphical performance on an Ethernet connection and more sophisticated remote console management than the previous version. The card also uses 128-bit encryption with remote console data transmission.
"IT managers in data centers and remote sites are faced with the constant pressures of reducing IT expenditures while optimizing data center management resources, security and performance," said Vince Gayman, vice president of marketing, management, networking, and high availability, Industry Standard Servers, HP. "RILOE II is another example of the value and innovation that distinguish HP ProLiant servers as the most reliable and manageable industry standard server platform."
