Apr 21, 2003 : Telephony, Media Server Markets to Grow
📅 - According to its latest report, "Hosted IP Telephony Will Help Providers Reduce Churn and Build Customer Loyalty", consulting firm The Yankee Group (yankeegroup.com) predicts that the hosted IP telephony market application servers market will reach $1.5 billion and the media servers market will reach $481 million by 2007.
The report projects that by the end of the current year, the market for application server vendors will grow to $206 million while the market for media server vendors will reach $69 million. "The new offerings are based on open architectures, are sleeker and easierto manage, and represent an innovative service for their target market. So to shake the inflexible and staid perception of Centrex, we are coining the phrase ?hosted IP telephony? for these services," said Danny Klein, Yankee Group Communications Network Infrastructure analyst. Based in Boston and with offices throughout the world, the Yankee Group provides technology research, analysis and consulting.
