📄 Editorial Review
(3*) 🔧 Services: Data Center Own datacenterST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) is a Singapore-headquartered data center infrastructure group specializing in enterprise colocation, hyperscale deployments, connectivity, interconnection and round-the-clock facility support. The business is fundamentally different from a conventional web hosting provider. Shared hosting, WordPress hosting, low-cost VPS, domain registration and consumer email services are not part of its core portfolio. Its infrastructure is intended for enterprises, cloud providers, hyperscalers, AI operators and organizations requiring substantial physical data center capacity across multiple markets.
STT GDC commenced operations in June 2014 and was established by ST Telemedia. Bruno Lopez has led the company since its inception and currently serves as President & Group CEO. Expansion has combined new data center construction, acquisitions and joint ventures, producing a particularly strong presence across Asia while adding a significant European footprint through businesses such as VIRTUS Data Centres.
The group has grown to more than 110 data centers, over 20 major business markets and approximately 2.7 GW of IT load across 12 countries. Its geographic coverage includes Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, India, Thailand, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam. The overall capacity figures include operational facilities together with developments and future capacity, so customers evaluating immediate availability should consider the status of the individual location.
A major ownership transaction was announced in February 2026, when ST Telemedia agreed to sell its remaining 82% interest in STT GDC to a consortium led by KKR together with Singtel. The transaction valued STT GDC at approximately S$13.8 billion enterprise value, including leverage and committed project capital expenditure. Following completion and conversion of existing preference shares, KKR is intended to hold 75% and Singtel 25%. The agreement marked one of the most significant data center transactions in Asia and reflects the scale STT GDC has reached since its establishment.
The principal commercial service is Colocation. Deployments range from individual racks to cages, private suites and highly customized Build-to-Suit environments. Conventional colocation configurations can accommodate power densities of up to 10 kW per rack without supplemental cooling, while custom environments can be designed for far more demanding workloads. Private cages and suites provide additional physical separation, controlled access and deployment flexibility for organizations with stricter security or compliance requirements.
AI infrastructure has become one of STT GDC's strongest areas. AI-ready environments can accommodate workloads reaching 150 kW per rack at scale, placing the company well beyond ordinary enterprise colocation densities. Cooling options include traditional air cooling, hybrid configurations, rear-door heat exchangers, direct-to-chip liquid cooling and immersion liquid cooling. These configurations are suitable for dense GPU clusters, machine-learning platforms, high-performance computing and other workloads where traditional rack power and cooling limits become restrictive.
Connectivity forms another major part of the portfolio. STT GDC uses a carrier-neutral model and provides Cross Connect, Campus Connect, Metro Connect and Dedicated Internet Access. Cross Connect gives customers Layer 1 UTP or fiber connections within a facility, while Campus Connect links data centers located on the same campus through pre-built fiber infrastructure. Metro Connect provides dedicated Layer 2 point-to-point connectivity between supported facilities and carrier hotels.
Dedicated Internet Access is available from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps, allowing customers to combine data center space with Internet connectivity instead of sourcing every component separately. The carrier-neutral architecture also permits multi-carrier and multi-cloud deployments, which is particularly valuable for enterprises requiring network diversity and reduced dependence on a single telecommunications provider. Some connectivity arrangements can be contracted on flexible monthly terms.
Support Services cover practical work performed inside the facilities. On-site technical personnel are available continuously, and Remote Hands Services allow customers to delegate physical tasks without dispatching their own engineer to the data center. Technical cleaning is also available for sensitive equipment environments. These services can be purchased when needed or under subscription and SLA-backed arrangements.
Sustainability has become increasingly important as the group's power requirements expand. During 2025, 83.2% of electricity consumption came from renewable sources, while carbon intensity was 70.5% below the 2021 baseline. Average group PUE reached approximately 1.44, and STT GDC is working toward carbon-neutral data center operations by 2030. Energy efficiency is particularly significant for customers deploying AI and other high-density systems because power consumption has become one of the largest operational factors in modern data center infrastructure.
STT GDC maintains localized operations across numerous Asian markets. English is the primary international language, with additional localized content available for markets including Japan, South Korea, China and Vietnam. Regional English versions support Singapore, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
💰 Price & Cost
STT GDC uses an enterprise quotation model rather than publishing standardized retail hosting packages. Rack deployments, cages, private suites, Build-to-Suit projects, power allocations, connectivity and support are priced according to the individual facility, deployment size, power density, redundancy requirements, contract duration and required services.
This pricing model is appropriate for enterprise data center infrastructure because two deployments using the same amount of physical rack space can have substantially different power, cooling, network and resilience requirements. Customers therefore receive commercial proposals tailored to the requested infrastructure instead of choosing from fixed online plans.
Connectivity can be obtained with flexible contractual arrangements, including monthly terms in some circumstances. Full colocation and hyperscale projects are normally negotiated individually.
There is no standard consumer-style money-back guarantee associated with these enterprise data center contracts. Payment terms and billing arrangements are determined through the applicable commercial agreement rather than through a retail checkout system. There is consequently no single storefront currency covering the entire international operation.
🏢 Data Center
STT GDC operates a substantial international data center platform through subsidiaries, controlled businesses, associates and joint ventures. Asian facilities generally operate under the STT GDC identity, while VIRTUS Data Centres forms an important part of the European platform.
The footprint is especially extensive in Asia. Singapore has six facilities and more than 110 MW of listed IT capacity. India has 34 facilities across 10 cities and approximately 613 MW, making it one of the largest individual markets in the group. Thailand has three facilities totaling approximately 49 MW, while South Korea has a platform of around 30 MW.
Indonesia has become one of the largest expansion markets, with nine facilities representing more than 360 MW of capacity. Japan includes two facilities representing more than 70 MW, while the Philippines has nine facilities across three metropolitan areas and more than 146 MW. Malaysia has three facilities with more than 130 MW.
The European business includes 17 UK data centers with more than 300 MW, approximately 13 facilities in Germany representing more than 260 MW, and a 42 MW development in Italy. Some of this total capacity remains under development, so operational capacity and future planned capacity need to be distinguished when selecting a location.
Singapore continues to serve as one of the group's most important network and data center hubs. Facilities are located around areas including Defu, One-North, Tai Seng and Loyang. In August 2026, STT GDC was selected under Singapore's second Data Centre Call for Application to develop an additional 50 MW of sustainable AI-ready data center capacity, strengthening its long-term position in one of Asia's most constrained and important data center markets.
Indonesia is expanding at a similarly aggressive pace. Development of the Jakarta campus includes STT Jakarta 2, STT Jakarta 3 and additional STT Jakarta 5 and 6 projects. Longer-term development around Jakarta is intended to exceed 360 MW of AI-ready capacity, making the Indonesian platform increasingly significant for cloud and AI deployments.
In Japan, the Greater Tokyo campus at Inzai is designed for approximately 70 MW. STT Tokyo 2 is expected to contribute up to 38 MW, while STT Tokyo 1 has achieved LEED Gold certification and is designed for an annualized PUE below 1.25.
South Korea is represented by STT Seoul 1, which achieved Uptime Institute Tier III Certification of Design Documents. The certification reflects a concurrently maintainable design and is relevant for enterprise customers requiring stronger infrastructure resilience.
Carrier neutrality is an important advantage throughout the platform. STT Singapore 5 supports connectivity from major telecom and network providers including Tata Communications, Colt, Zenlayer, Singtel, AT&T, China Mobile International and Megaport, together with additional carriers, dark-fiber providers and interconnection networks.
Network information available for the Singapore carrier ecosystem includes SG.GS operating AS24482. STT GDC also works with Zenlayer on private connectivity between major interconnection points in Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam, expanding the options for customers running distributed Asian infrastructure.
Uptime commitments are defined according to the individual facility and service contract rather than through one universal group-wide percentage. In India, current colocation infrastructure is based around TIA-942 Rated 3/Tier 3 principles and includes a 99.982% uptime SLA, redundant cooling and dual power paths. Other facilities combine Uptime Institute, TIA, ISO and locally applicable certifications according to the individual location.
Physical security includes controlled access, hardened perimeter protection and 24/7 surveillance. Combined with redundant electrical and cooling systems, carrier-neutral connectivity and on-site technical teams, the infrastructure is suitable for mission-critical enterprise, cloud, financial, telecommunications and AI workloads.
✍️ Customer Support
Technical support is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at the data center level. Support focuses on physical infrastructure and operational requirements rather than website development or application troubleshooting.
Remote Hands is particularly useful for companies managing infrastructure in another city or country. Local technicians can perform agreed physical tasks without requiring the customer to dispatch its own engineer. Support can be used on an ad-hoc basis or under subscription and SLA-backed arrangements.
Technical Cleaning is another specialist service for maintaining environments containing sensitive equipment. Combined with Remote Hands and continuous on-site staffing, it allows customers to operate geographically distributed infrastructure with fewer routine visits to the facility.

🔨 Control Panel
STT GDC does not use a conventional cPanel, Plesk or shared-hosting control panel because the service is based on enterprise data center infrastructure rather than managed web hosting.
Colocation customers retain control of their own servers, operating systems, applications and data. STT GDC manages the surrounding physical environment, including power, cooling, facility security, connectivity and operational support.
Customer service portals are used for operational activities such as arranging deliveries and requesting cross-connects. This separates customer infrastructure management from the building and critical facility systems while still giving customers access to the operational services required to maintain their deployments.
🎯 Conclusion
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres is a large enterprise digital infrastructure operator rather than a traditional hosting company. Its main strengths are its extensive Asia-Pacific presence, expanding European footprint, carrier-neutral connectivity, scalable colocation options, 24/7 technical support and increasingly sophisticated AI-ready infrastructure. The ability to support up to 150 kW per rack, together with direct-to-chip and immersion liquid cooling, gives STT GDC a strong position for GPU clusters, artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. Large campuses and substantial power pipelines also provide room for hyperscalers and enterprises that need to expand beyond a few conventional racks.
Its international network of more than 110 data centers is another major advantage for organizations wanting to standardize infrastructure across multiple countries. Customers can combine conventional enterprise colocation with private suites, Build-to-Suit environments, dedicated connectivity and on-site technical assistance while remaining within the same broader data center group.
STT GDC is considerably less suitable for small businesses looking for inexpensive servers or conventional web hosting. There are no public shared hosting packages, retail VPS plans, domain registrations or standardized online prices. For enterprises, hyperscalers and AI operators requiring serious colocation capacity in Asia and Europe, however, STT GDC represents a particularly strong infrastructure option.
