xneelo is one of South Africa’s most established web hosting providers, with origins going back to 1999 under the former Hetzner SA / Hetzner (Pty) Ltd identity. The company rebranded to xneelo in July 2019 and continues to operate as a privately held South African hosting business headquartered in Durbanville, near Cape Town. Its long operating history, local infrastructure ownership, and strong South African market presence give it a more mature profile than many newer cloud and shared hosting brands.

Historical note: xneelo’s was co-founded by Hans Wencke and Martin Hetzner. The company grew from early co-located hosting infrastructure in the former UUNET data centre at the Great Westerford Building in Newlands, Cape Town, before establishing its Durbanville head office at Frazzitta Business Park in 2003 and expanding into Gauteng data centre operations in 2004. By 2009, Hetzner South Africa hosted more than 130,000 domains for around 25,000 SME customers, later becoming an accredited .co.za registrar in January 2013. The newer xneelo Cloud platform adds scalable local cloud infrastructure to the portfolio.
