📄 Editorial Review
webhostone is an independent German hosting and cloud provider based in Bad Säckingen, Baden-Württemberg, with roots going back to 1998. The business was established by Andreas Herbert Weigert and originally operated as WebhostOne e.K.; webhostone GmbH later continued the hosting operation. Andreas Weigert remains involved in the company as shareholder and managing director, together with managing director Christian Siebold and authorized officer Thomas Keser. The company focuses strongly on the German market, combining conventional web hosting with managed servers, cloud applications, Microsoft services, security products and specialized infrastructure for agencies and professional organizations. German data residency and direct technical assistance are central to its service model. The website and documentation are primarily available in German, and no complete multi-language/localized version exists. Prices are shown in EUR.
The main Web Hosting range consists of Basic, Advanced and Expert. Basic includes 1 GB RAM, 50 GB SSD storage, one isolated project environment, unlimited e-mail accounts, unlimited MariaDB databases, one included domain and SSL. Advanced raises the available RAM to 2 GB and supports three separate projects, while Expert provides 4 GB RAM and five projects.
Customers can choose between Apache and NGINX and customize PHP settings according to the requirements of individual projects. PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, Ruby on Rails and SSI are supported, together with cron jobs, SSH, FTP, SFTP and WebDAV access. The individual projects operate in isolated environments, which improves separation between websites and provides more control than very basic shared hosting platforms.
Specialized hosting is available for WordPress, TYPO3, Contao, Shopware and WooCommerce. These packages are adapted to the technical requirements of each application rather than relying exclusively on a generic shared-hosting configuration. Contao hosting supports current Contao versions together with PHP, MariaDB, ImageMagick and scheduled tasks, while TYPO3 environments are suitable for SSH and Composer-based workflows. Shopware and WooCommerce hosting provide additional resources and configurations for online stores.
Customers who do not want to maintain a CMS can use the Homepage Builder, which provides responsive designs and visual editing. Ranking Coach is available as an additional SEO service for keyword monitoring, competitor analysis and guided optimization.
The Managed Server range is one of WebhostOne's strongest services. Configurations can use shared or dedicated CPU resources, and CPU, RAM and SSD capacity can be adjusted as requirements change. Fully managed operation covers operating-system updates, security updates, monitoring, hardening, configuration work and assistance with additional applications or modules. Larger configurations can reach dozens of dedicated vCPU cores and substantial RAM capacity, making the platform suitable for demanding websites, online shops, agency workloads and custom business applications.
Managed Servers include IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity and can use network interfaces reaching up to 10 Gbit/s. Hourly backups are retained for 10 days, and restoration is included. The multi-customer administration functions are especially useful for agencies that operate websites or applications for several clients.
Docker Server extends this managed infrastructure with Docker and docker-compose environments. It is suitable for developers and companies that need containerized applications but still prefer the underlying operating system, monitoring and infrastructure to remain managed.
Custom Server is available for projects requiring individually designed resources, virtualization, redundancy or clustered infrastructure. This provides an alternative when the standard Managed Server packages do not match a particular application architecture.
Windows Server is offered as a managed private-cloud solution rather than a simple unmanaged Windows VPS. Configurations include the Windows Server license, backup capacity, private networking, firewall protection and a public IP address. VPN environments can use OpenVPN, IPSec or WireGuard. Windows workloads can include file servers, terminal-server environments, Microsoft SQL applications, Active Directory and other Microsoft-oriented business systems.
The Windows platform is also suitable for professional organizations with stricter German privacy and confidentiality requirements, including services designed around DSGVO obligations and §203 StGB requirements.
Root Server provides unrestricted administrative access for customers who prefer to manage the operating system and applications themselves. The servers include IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity, operating-system flexibility and remote management functionality. New Root Server orders are temporarily unavailable because of hardware availability constraints.
WebHostOne also provides several cloud and workplace services. Nextcloud is hosted in Germany and includes SSL encryption, automatic updates, two-factor authentication and brute-force protection. Plans are available for individual users as well as larger teams, with more advanced packages providing additional administrative functionality.
Microsoft 365 licenses are available directly through WebHostOne, covering Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard and Business Premium. Customers can therefore combine their hosting infrastructure and Microsoft workplace subscriptions with one German service provider.
Cloud Backup supports Windows and Linux systems and stores encrypted backup data in German infrastructure. AES-256 encryption and geographically separated storage are used for stronger protection against local infrastructure failures.
Domain services cover more than 500 TLDs. Domain customers receive DNS administration, forwarding options, an e-mail account, automatic Let's Encrypt SSL and a small hosting allocation for domain-only usage. Domain transfers from other providers are supported.
E-mail services go beyond the standard mailboxes included with hosting. SecuMail provides additional filtering against spam, phishing, malware and malicious links or attachments, with quarantine and reporting functions.
MailArchive adds long-term e-mail archiving designed for German GoBD requirements. It includes browser and desktop access and can also integrate with Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft 365 mailboxes can be included through journaling.
Commercial SSL certificates are available alongside free Let's Encrypt certificates. The portfolio includes domain-validated and organization-validated certificates, including certificates issued through Sectigo.
Agency customers receive additional reseller and multi-client options. Managed Servers support multiple subcustomers and flexible resource allocation. White-label administration is available as an additional feature, allowing agencies to operate hosting services under their own brand while relying on WebHostOne infrastructure and technical support.
Dedicated solutions also exist for law firms and notaries, medical practices, tax advisers, associations, educational institutions and public-sector organizations. These combine German hosting with privacy-focused infrastructure, managed services and contractual processing arrangements suitable for organizations handling confidential information.
Migration services can transfer websites, databases, mailboxes and domains from another provider. The existing environment can remain active until the final DNS change, reducing the risk of unnecessary downtime during a move. Standard migration packages are available for smaller websites, while more complex server, multisite and online-shop migrations can be handled individually.
