Web Host Limited, commonly known as WebHost.hk or 香港網庫, is one of Hong Kong’s long-established hosting and internet-service companies. The business started in 1998 and obtained PNet/ISP license OFTA No. 591. It became an APNIC member and received its own autonomous-system resources in 1999, giving it direct experience in both hosting operations and regional network management.

The company expanded through several important corporate transactions. It acquired Indoscot Limited in 2007, merged with UDomain Web Hosting Company Limited on March 18, 2010, and completed another merger with ONE Hosting Limited in 2015. UDomain had more than 10,000 corporate customers around the time of the merger and had invested over HK$1 million in private hosting infrastructure.

Its portfolio is unusually broad for a regional provider. Services include domain registration, Linux and Windows shared hosting, combined hosting packages, business email, encrypted email, VPS, hourly cloud servers, fixed cloud packages, dedicated servers, colocation, cloud storage, SSL certificates, firewall and VPN services, reseller hosting, web design, a website builder, payment processing, email marketing, SMS marketing, QR-code campaigns and Mainland China connectivity solutions.

Shared hosting is available on both Linux and Windows. Linux accounts support PHP, CGI, Perl, SSI, XML and MySQL, while Windows accounts include ASP, ASP.NET, Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server options. Storage ranges from 2 GB to 50 GB, traffic is unlimited, and daily backups are included. The hosting range carries a 99.9% uptime commitment and includes redundant power and continuous monitoring.

Some of the software references are outdated. PHP 5, older ASP.NET versions and legacy Microsoft database options still appear within the hosting specifications. These environments may remain useful for older business applications, but customers deploying a new website should confirm the exact PHP, ASP.NET, database and operating-system versions before ordering.

The All-in-One Hosting packages combine website storage, email capacity, cloud storage and database resources in a single account. Linux and Windows versions are available. These packages are more suitable for small companies that want hosting, email and online file storage together rather than as separate subscriptions.

Email hosting ranges from 15 to 200 mailboxes and includes POP3, IMAP, SMTP, webmail, SSL encryption, anti-virus protection, anti-spam filtering and mobile-device access. SMTP Lite is included, while larger outbound-mail requirements require an additional SMTP Standard service.

A Smart DNS option improves email access for employees working from Mainland China. Mail connections are routed through a China-side proxy and then carried through an encrypted private connection to the Hong Kong email servers. This is a practical service for businesses operating between Hong Kong and Mainland China, where normal cross-border email performance can be inconsistent.

Encrypted email is also available for customers with stronger privacy requirements. The service uses ProtonMail-related technology and supports payment methods that require less personal information than a conventional online purchase. Account ownership, recovery procedures, data retention and support conditions should be confirmed before using it for critical business communication.

The VPS range includes Linux and Windows configurations with 1 to 8 vCPU, 1 GB to 32 GB RAM, 20 GB to 500 GB storage, dedicated IP addresses and offsite backup space equal to the VPS storage allocation. The main comparison range starts at HK$498 per month and carries a 99.99% server uptime commitment.

A separate Windows VPS range still includes Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2, IIS 6 and 7, and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express. These platforms are obsolete and unsuitable for a newly deployed production server. Prices in that section also begin at HK$338, creating a conflict with the main VPS comparison. Customers should obtain a written configuration and quotation showing the actual operating system, processor allocation, storage type and monthly price.

Cloud servers are available through fixed monthly packages and hourly billing. Fixed configurations range from 1 to 8 vCPU, 1 GB to 32 GB RAM and 20 GB to 500 GB storage. Linux choices include Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, while Windows servers support IIS, ASP, ASP.NET, Microsoft Access and SQL Express. Offsite backup space is included up to the size of the server disk.

The on-demand cloud platform is billed by the hour and offers Small, Medium and Large configurations. Charges are reduced while a server is powered off but its data remains stored. Incoming traffic is free, while outgoing allowances and overage charges depend on the selected instance. This model is more flexible for temporary projects, testing environments and workloads that do not need to run continuously.

Dedicated servers use Dell PowerEdge hardware with Linux or Windows. Available configurations include SAS disks with RAID 1, RAID 5 or RAID 10 and unlimited transfer. The specifications include older quad-core and six-core Xeon processors, mechanical SAS storage, CentOS and older IIS versions. These systems may still support legacy applications, but they are less attractive than current NVMe-based dedicated servers. The exact processor generation, disk condition, RAID controller, replacement policy and operating-system availability should be confirmed before purchase.

Colocation ranges from 1U and 2U server space to fractional cabinets and full racks. Services include IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, a 1 Gbps network port, traffic reports, escorted data-center access and optional DDoS mitigation. Full-cabinet options include 40U, 45U and 47U racks depending on the selected facility.

Cloud storage is based on ownCloud and ranges from 10 GB to 300 GB. It supports browsers, Windows, Linux, Android and iOS. Files can be shared using password protection and SSL-secured links, and an unlimited number of users can share the capacity included with the account.

Domain registration covers more than 50 generic, Hong Kong, Chinese, internationalized and country-code extensions. DNS management includes MX, CNAME, TXT and SPF records, together with domain privacy, URL redirection and parking services. Domain-registration fees are non-refundable once a registration has been completed.

Security services include single-domain, wildcard and extended-validation SSL certificates. Certificate warranty coverage reaches as much as US$1.5 million, depending on the selected product. An SSL-VPN service is also available for secure email, web and file access between Mainland China and Hong Kong.

The e-commerce portfolio extends beyond conventional hosting. PayWay combines payment links with order management and supports PayPal, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayMe, FPS, Alipay, WeChat Pay and Bitcoin. Other business tools include Alipay integration, web design, a drag-and-drop website builder, email campaigns, SMS messaging, QR-code analytics and the older FBShop social-commerce platform.

The reseller program includes a 30% discount, white-label service delivery, account-management tools and independent customer billing. The management panel is not identified by product name, so resellers should confirm its functions, automation support and branding limitations.

The website design is dated, fixed-width and dependent on older tables, images and embedded frames.
