Webcentral is a full-service Australian provider for domains, hosting, email, websites, and online security. The trading entity is Netregistry Pty Ltd, ACN 080 859 721 and ABN 13 080 859 721. Its natural audience is the Australian small and midsize business market, including customers that would rather keep registration, hosting, mail, site creation, and technical assistance with one supplier than assemble those services separately.

There are two valid starting points in its history. The broader corporate lineage reaches back to the creation of Melbourne IT in 1996. The Webcentral operation itself began as NetRegistry in 1997, and Netregistry Pty Ltd was incorporated on November 25 of that year. Larry Bloch co-founded Netregistry and served as chief executive and chair for 17 years. In 2014, Melbourne IT agreed to acquire Netregistry Group for AUD 50.4 million. Netregistry and WME were consolidated under the Webcentral identity in 2021.

More recent ownership explains the international dimension now visible in the service range. Oakley Capital (oakleycapitalinvestments.com) invested in the carved-out Webcentral business in 2023. During the first half of 2024, Webcentral merged with World Host Group (worldhost.group), forming a larger hosting-and-domains platform operating internationally. The Australian service still trades through Netregistry Pty Ltd within the Webcentral Group, and sister company Netregistry Wholesale Pty Ltd is its internal domain registrar. David Spellenberg and Joel Drane are the current company directors, and the organization falls within the 51-200 employee range.

Webcentral has accumulated meaningful scale. It has assisted more than 300,000 Australian businesses, manages more than 500,000 domains across Australia and New Zealand, and counts over 7,000 customers with at least 20 years of tenure. More than 65,000 accounts have remained for over a decade. It processed its 100,000th direct .au registration in September 2023, hosts more than 200,000 sites, and supports more than 500,000 people or businesses. The totals measure different parts of the customer base, yet all point to a long-established registrar and hosting operation.

Domain registration remains central to the business. Australian choices include .au, .com.au, .net.au, and .org.au, accompanied by global extensions such as .com, .net, .org, .info, and newer generic TLDs. Accreditation covers both Australian and international names. Customers can search, register, transfer, renew, redirect, forward email, and edit DNS records from the same account. The advanced domain manager adds Anycast DNS and capacity for up to 2,000 records. Privacy is free on eligible extensions, but Australian registry policy prevents privacy protection on .au names. An incoming transfer normally takes five to seven days once the domain is unlocked and its authorization code is supplied.

Standard Shared Web Hosting provides the simplest path from a domain to a working site. The platform combines AMD EPYC processors, Samsung NVMe storage, LiteSpeed, Softaculous, SpamExperts, AutoSSL, malware scanning, and a web application firewall. New accounts are generally activated within minutes on the purchase day, after which files, mailboxes, databases, FTP access, PHP, domains, and restores can be managed through the familiar panel.

Managed WordPress Hosting removes much of the routine application work. Core, theme, plugin, and PHP updates are automated alongside malware remediation and performance tuning. Redis, WP Rocket, unlimited PHP workers, and NVMe edge servers are combined with an enterprise service from Cloudflare. That layer supplies more than 275 edge locations, CDN delivery, full-page and device-aware caching, image optimization, and a WAF with PCI coverage. Reseller Hosting gives agencies and freelancers a cPanel/WHM environment with white-label nameservers, integrated billing, Anycast DNS, Softaculous, NVMe storage, security, and daily backups. Plans progress from 15 to 300 cPanel accounts, with larger deployments available by consultation. Resellers can define packages, quotas, and branding while Webcentral maintains the platform. For greater isolation and control, Linux VPS and Windows VPS include dedicated resources, NVMe storage, a selectable operating system and location, configurable DNS and firewall rules, and a 1Gbit/s network port per server. Linux administration is performed through SSH and full root access, while Windows offers Remote Desktop and administrator-level configuration. The unmanaged service includes initial operating-system installation, network access, and help with hardware or network failures; patching, applications, security configuration, backups, and day-to-day administration remain the customer's responsibility.

Managed VPS transfers those operational duties to the provider. Managed Linux uses KVM, CloudLinux, cPanel/WHM, AMD EPYC processors, 4GB to 32GB of memory, 100GB to 400GB storage, and 1TB to 4TB monthly bandwidth. Daily backups, continuous monitoring, automatic updates, WAF protection, Monarx or Imunify security, and tools including Node.js, Python, Redis, Memcached, Elasticsearch, Docker, and Kubernetes broaden its usefulness beyond ordinary websites. Managed Windows supplies a tuned Windows environment, routine administration, daily snapshots, point-in-time recovery, security, and migration assistance.

The largest virtual configurations sit under Virtual Dedicated Servers. These are isolated KVM instances with dedicated rather than shared CPU resources. VDS Premium begins at 24 cores, 64GB RAM, and 800GB NVMe storage, then scales to 64 cores, 256GB RAM, and 2TB storage. CloudLinux, cPanel Solo, AutoSSL, Imunify360, WAF, antivirus and malware protection, monitoring, daily backups, root access, and managed system updates are included. Linux is standard, while a Windows VDS can be arranged through support.

Business communications are covered by Professional and Business Email. Domain-based mailboxes come with 10GB to 100GB storage, webmail, calendars, contacts, tasks, anti-spam and antivirus filtering, optional Message Sniffer, and flexible mailbox and storage upgrades. Microsoft 365 extends this into Exchange, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and optional Copilot, with assistance for licensing, setup, and migration.
