web-crossing GmbH is a long-running, owner-driven internet agency and hosting provider based in Eduard-Bodem-Gasse, Innsbruck. The company started back in 1999 under the name Ennemoser web-crossing and over the years evolved into a full-service shop for web design, custom development, online marketing and managed infrastructure. They work with a team of around 37 specialists, so this is not a tiny side-project host but a mid-sized regional provider with in-house expertise.

Hosting is tightly integrated into their agency business. Instead of "one size fits all" mass hosting, they focus on stable, managed environments for CMS-driven sites, web shops and business workloads. A big part of their appeal is that the same team that builds or maintains a site can also handle the server, domains and security, so many customers treat them as a single point of contact for everything online.

Shared hosting is split into several CMS-optimised packages. There are dedicated lines for TYPO3, Contao, WordPress, classic LAMP hosting and Windows/ASP.NET. Each of these comes in three tiers – Beginner, Professional and XXL – with resources scaling from 5 GB / 1 database at the low end to 100 GB / 20 databases at the top. All of them include flat traffic, daily backups, email accounts and email support, with the XXL tiers adding 24x7 hotline access and a dedicated IP address. The CMS-specific plans come with the relevant software (TYPO3 11.5, Contao 4.5.x, WordPress) pre-installed and kept on-version with automatic security updates, which is particularly attractive if someone wants a clean CMS instance without fiddling with installers.

The Windows hosting line is aimed at ASP.NET projects. Again you see the same three-step ladder (Beginner / Professional / XXL) with 5 / 25 / 100 GB disk space and SQL Server Express databases. Traffic is capped at 50 GB on the smallest Windows plan and becomes flat on the higher tiers. For classic PHP sites, the LAMP packages are quite flexible: multiple PHP versions are available all the way up to PHP 8.3, with a generous 512 MB memory limit even on the entry plan. That combination of CMS-specific offerings plus generic LAMP and Windows hosting gives good coverage for most typical agency projects.

Above shared hosting they run a small but solid vServer (VPS) portfolio. Predefined virtual servers start with 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM and 250 GB disk and go up to 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM and 500 GB disk, with a choice between standard HDD storage and SSD-only ("Flash only") options. All vServers come with Ubuntu LTS, full root access, flat traffic, at least one public IPv4 address and the option to add more IPs for a small monthly fee. For Magento shops there are special "Magento 2 ready" vServers built on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with Magento 2 pre-installed, cronjobs tuned for the shop, Webmin as a lightweight management interface, integrated Let’s Encrypt SSL, SSH/Git access and daily backups. This is clearly aimed at agencies and merchants who want a performant shop server but prefer not to assemble the stack themselves.

For customers with higher demands they also offer root servers and server housing. Here they either rent out dedicated machines or host a customer’s own rack server in their environment, again with the option of a managed service so that the same team who runs their shared and vServer infrastructure also maintains those dedicated boxes. Configuration (CPU, RAM, storage) is customised, which fits the more bespoke, B2B-heavy profile of the company.

Around hosting and servers there is an ecosystem of domain and cloud services. Their Domain Service handles registration, transfers, DNS and trustee service for more than 1,000 TLDs, consolidating scattered domains under one registrar. For collaboration and file sharing they provide ownCloud/Nextcloud solutions, from low-cost hosting setups up to virtual or dedicated servers tuned specifically for a private cloud. E-mail is complemented by Hornetsecurity-based email security, bringing in a spam and malware filter with a 99.9% detection rate and a 30-day free trial, plus a MailStore-style email archiving product. On top of that sit Office 365 / Exchange Online packages, a proprietary newsletter tool (Newstool), VPN via NordVPN, and various white-label and system-administration services.

Overall, the company is a regional full-service provider based in Innsbruck: strong in German-speaking markets (no English support), focused on long-term customers and project work, not on ultra-cheap anonymous shared hosting.
