📄 Editorial Review
VPSCity is a New Zealand hosting, cloud infrastructure and telecommunications provider operated by GlobiCom Limited. The company was established in 2006 by Tarquin Douglass, who remains its CEO, and operates from East Tamaki in Auckland. Its legal identity is GlobiCom Limited trading as VPSCity, registered in New Zealand under company number 1898224. The wider GlobiCom business also manages several related technology brands and expanded its operations through the acquisition of Base Two Solutions in April 2020.Despite its name, VPSCity is much more than a virtual private server provider. Its portfolio covers Eco virtual servers, cloud servers, managed cPanel servers, dedicated virtual servers, colocation, shared hosting, reseller hosting, business email, cloud storage, backup infrastructure, remote desktop hosting, domains, SSL certificates, DNS hosting, content filtering, broadband, VoIP and managed cloud services. This broad service range makes the company suitable for both individual website owners and New Zealand businesses that prefer to keep hosting, connectivity and communications with one local provider.
The entry-level Eco Servers are the closest option to conventional VPS hosting. Linux and Windows configurations are available with between 1 and 32 virtual CPUs, 1 GB to 128 GB of memory and NVMe or flash-based storage. Customers can add monitoring, backups, firewall management, cPanel, Softaculous, CloudLinux, LiteSpeed, JetBackup, Imunify and Microsoft software licenses. Server administration can remain self-managed or be upgraded to partial, full or enterprise management.
The more resilient Cloud Servers use fully virtualized resources and suit applications requiring stronger availability, dedicated resource allocation and easier scalability. Standard plans include unlimited New Zealand traffic together with defined international traffic allowances. Separate I/O-, CPU- and memory-optimized configurations are available for databases, application servers and workloads with more demanding performance requirements.
Businesses that need a complete hosting platform can choose a Managed cPanel Server. These packages combine server resources with WHM, cPanel, CloudLinux, JetBackup, Softaculous, proactive monitoring and technical management. VPS, cloud and bare-metal configurations are available, making the service useful for agencies, hosting resellers and organizations managing numerous websites.
The Dedicated Server range mainly consists of Dedicated VDS configurations with dedicated processor cores. Available plans support up to 128 GB of memory and several terabytes of SSD storage. The server platform uses equipment from HP, Dell, IBM and Supermicro, with deployment normally completed within 24 hours. Some older areas still refer to previous HP server generations, while the primary ordering system now focuses more heavily on Dedicated VDS packages.
Colocation Hosting is available in Auckland for equipment occupying between 1U and 4U of rack space. The service includes power, a 1 Gbps network connection, 1 TB of traffic and an IPv4 allocation. Remote hands, KVM access, extra network ports, additional IP addresses and management services can be ordered when required.
The conventional Shared Hosting service runs on New Zealand infrastructure and includes cPanel, LiteSpeed, Softaculous, email hosting, SSL support and daily backups. The three packages range from a small single-website account to business-oriented plans capable of hosting up to ten websites. This service is a practical choice for local businesses, WordPress installations and smaller e-commerce projects that do not need a complete VPS.
Reseller Hosting includes WHM and cPanel, CloudLinux account isolation, Softaculous, a dedicated IP address and JetBackup with 30-day retention. Depending on the selected plan, resellers can manage between 30 and 100 customer accounts with unmetered data transfer.
The Email Hosting range includes Microsoft Exchange and Zimbra Open Source Edition. Mailbox capacities extend from 5 GB to 20 GB, with SSL-secured access, spam filtering, antivirus protection, aliases, calendars, contacts and mobile synchronization. Supported technologies include POP3, IMAP, CalDAV, CardDAV, MAPI and ActiveSync. Deleted mailbox information can normally be restored for up to 14 days.
CloudDrive provides hosted storage through WebDAV, FTP, SMB, rsync, NFS, a browser interface and synchronization software for desktop and mobile devices. It supports file sharing, collaboration and online document editing, with capacities ranging from 50 GB to 15 TB. The backup platform can also protect cPanel accounts, MySQL databases, Microsoft SQL Server installations and Exchange environments.
For larger backup deployments, the HPE StoreOnce Catalyst Datastore supports deduplicated storage, synthetic full backups, replication, encrypted transfers, Microsoft SQL Server integration and Veeam-based backup workflows. This service is priced individually according to the required capacity and infrastructure.
Remote Desktop Hosting is available for Linux and Windows environments. Applications and complete desktops can be accessed through a browser or remote desktop client, while software installation and platform management can be handled by the engineering team.
VPSCity is also an authorized .NZ domain registrar. Domain services include DNS control, forwarding, automatic renewal, unlimited subdomains, privacy options and transfers. SSL certificates are available from RapidSSL, GeoTrust, Comodo and Thawte, covering domain-validated, organization-validated, extended-validation and wildcard certificates.
The separate DNS Hosting platform supports unlimited domains and DNS records, DNSSEC, reusable templates, bulk administration, anycast distribution and DDoS protection. Content Filtering uses DNS-based controls to block malware, phishing, ransomware and unsuitable material, with configurable allowlists, blocklists and reporting.
Outside traditional hosting, VPSCity provides Broadband for residential and business customers, including unlimited-data packages. Its VoIP service supports SIP connectivity, cloud PBX features, call queues, toll-free numbers, call records, music on hold and Cisco handsets. The wider managed-services portfolio also includes private cloud, public cloud, hybrid infrastructure, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, server maintenance, security management and cloud migration.
The website and customer information are available in English, while billing is handled in New Zealand dollars. The interface works on desktop and mobile devices, although the navigation is dense and a few product sections retain older names or inconsistent technical details. The final hardware, traffic allocation, software licensing and management scope should therefore be confirmed before placing a larger order.
