Founded in 2000, initially operating as WorldSite GmbH and using the VIVANET GmbH name since August 2011, VIVANET is a long-established Swiss hosting and infrastructure provider based in Glattbrugg, Zürich. The legal entity was entered in the Zürich Commercial Register on December 17, 2001 under registration number CH-020.4.024.377-2 and UID CHE-109.431.275. Robin Müller serves as managing director and majority shareholder, holding CHF 18,000 of the CHF 20,000 share capital, while Renate Müller-Britt holds the remaining CHF 2,000. The company operates with a relatively small team, in the 2–10 employee range.

VIVANET has a much broader portfolio than a conventional shared-hosting provider. Its services cover domain registration, shared hosting, website building, reseller hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, backup, SSL certificates, DNS services, colocation and managed infrastructure. Their own autonomous systems and IP resources give them direct control over an important part of the network layer instead of relying entirely on another hosting provider.

The CONNECT shared hosting package costs CHF 5.90/month during the first year and CHF 12.90/month afterward. It includes 100 GB SSD storage, unlimited email accounts, unlimited alias domains, unlimited MySQL databases, DirectAdmin, CloudLinux, free SSL, cpGuard and access to more than 300 installable applications. WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, PrestaShop and MediaWiki can be installed, while SSH, cron jobs, selectable PHP versions, Perl, Python, phpMyAdmin and external MySQL access provide useful flexibility for developers.

Email functionality is also strong for a shared package. Customers can create unlimited POP3, IMAP and SMTP accounts, together with webmail, SpamAssassin, RBL filtering, autoresponders, forwarding and aliases. Individual mailboxes can reach 5 GB, although outgoing mail is subject to an hourly sending limit. A free migration service is available during the first 30 days after signup.

The Adelo Pro Website Builder costs CHF 5.90/month during the first year and CHF 12.90/month afterward. It combines responsive drag-and-drop website creation with hosting, unlimited email accounts, e-commerce functions, forms, blogging, galleries, video integration, SEO tools, free stock images and a free Sectigo SSL certificate. Web and mail services are hosted in Switzerland.

A separate VIVApage builder is also available at CHF 13.50/month, including more than 200 responsive templates, multilingual website support and unrestricted drag-and-drop editing. Having two website-builder products gives customers some flexibility, although the difference between the platforms is not immediately obvious and is worth checking before ordering.

Domain registration is another important part of the business. VIVANET supports approximately 2,000 domain extensions, which is a very extensive choice for a Swiss hosting company. Typical prices include .ch and .li at CHF 14.80/year, .com at CHF 20/year and .swiss at CHF 155/year, although registration, renewal and transfer fees vary by extension. Transfers and authorization-code management are integrated into the customer system.

Customers needing more isolation can choose VPS hosting, with configurations starting at CHF 18/month. Entry systems offer 1 vCPU with 1–8 GB dedicated RAM and 10–100 GB SSD storage, while larger 8-vCPU systems can reach 8–64 GB RAM and 100–500 GB SSD. VPS plans include guaranteed resources, a dedicated IP address, full root access and Linux operating-system choices. WHM/cPanel can be added when required.

VPS administration is handled through the VMM platform, which supports remote management, restarts, resource adjustments and additional IP addresses. Virtual-cloud functionality can pool CPU, memory, storage, bandwidth and IP resources across multiple instances. Managed VPS service is also available for customers who prefer VIVANET to handle updates, monitoring and backups. Two VPS locations are offered.

The dedicated-server range uses a cloud-oriented bare-metal model with remote-console access, snapshots, dedicated IP addresses, enterprise SSD RAID and multi-gigabit connectivity. Configurations start at CHF 32.10/month for a 1-core system with configurable 2–16 GB RAM and 20–160 GB SSD storage. Larger plans progress through 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12 cores to 16-core configurations starting at CHF 507.60/month with 32–128 GB RAM and 300–1,200 GB SSD storage. Larger custom systems with substantially more processing power and memory are also possible.

Dedicated servers can be operated unmanaged, under Core Managed, or with a Full Managed Server service. Linux and Windows workloads are supported, and remote console plus virtual-media access allows custom operating-system installations. Customers can use WHM/cPanel, DirectAdmin, Webmin or CWP depending on their preferred administration environment.

A PrivateCloud option extends the dedicated infrastructure further through VMware vCenter, allowing customers to create and manage their own virtual machines on dedicated resources.

The reseller hosting service is a substantial white-label platform. R1 starts at CHF 44.90/month with 20 GB storage, 500 GB traffic and five customer accounts. R2 increases this to 50 GB and ten customers, R3 provides 120 GB for twenty customers, R4 reaches 250 GB for fifty customers and R5 provides 400 GB, 5 TB traffic and capacity for as many as 250 customers. All packages support unlimited domains.

Resellers receive WHM/cPanel, custom nameservers, configurable branding, DNS management, overselling capability and a dedicated IP address with reverse DNS. WHMCS can be installed for customer management, billing and automation, although the WHMCS license itself has to be obtained separately.

The vBackup service starts at CHF 29.90/month for 50 GB in Zürich. Standard capacities extend through 80, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 350 GB to 500 GB, with the 500 GB package costing CHF 123.90/month. It supports full, incremental and differential backups covering files, folders, disks, partitions and virtual machines. AES-256 encryption, browser-based administration, deduplication, ransomware protection and rapid restore functions make it suitable for businesses that need more than ordinary shared-hosting backups.

Standalone SSL certificates are also available. Basic DV certificates start around CHF 24.90/year, business OV certificates around CHF 49.90 and EV certificates around CHF 199.90. The range includes RapidSSL, GeoTrust, PositiveSSL and Comodo-branded certificates, including wildcard and SAN options. CONNECT hosting and Adelo Pro already include SSL, so standalone certificates are mainly relevant for other servers or customers needing higher validation levels.

A managed DNS service costs CHF 3/month and places the customer's DNS zone in a globally redundant DNS cluster.

Hosted Exchange remains part of the wider service environment, although the present HEX ordering category has no standalone products available for direct purchase. It should therefore be treated as a service requiring confirmation before ordering.

VIVANET's customer interface is primarily German, and no complete multi-language/localized version exists. Prices are offered in Swiss francs (CHF). This strong local orientation is suitable for Swiss and German-speaking customers, while international customers wanting a fully English ordering and support environment may find it less convenient.
