Totaalnet, formally registered as Totaalnet Internet Works B.V., is a Dutch hosting and internet-services company founded in 1997 by Mark de Wildt. The business is based in Duiven and has developed a substantial domestic customer base, with approximately 42,945 customers, 142,664 domain registrations and subscriptions, and 26,949 hosted websites. The company operates with a team of around 16 employees.

Mark de Wildt remained closely involved with the business for almost three decades, serving as its founder and CEO from May 1997 until May 2026. This long period of direct founder involvement contributed to the company’s technically focused and independently operated character.

The service portfolio covers Linux shared hosting, Windows shared hosting, unmanaged VPS, managed VPS, custom hosting, domain registration, SSL certificates, consultancy, email hosting, reseller hosting, DNS management, and white-label hosting automation. The current product range concentrates on shared hosting, virtual infrastructure, domains, and custom business environments rather than conventional preconfigured dedicated-server packages.

Linux shared hosting supports HTML websites, WordPress, content management systems, and database-driven applications. The three packages provide between 10 GB and 100 GB of storage, 100 GB to 500 GB of monthly traffic, 10 to 100 mailboxes, and unlimited MySQL databases. Additional storage is available when a website or email environment outgrows the standard allocation.

Windows shared hosting follows the same storage, traffic, and mailbox structure while adding support for ASP, ASP.NET, and Microsoft SQL Server databases. The availability of both Linux and Windows hosting is particularly useful for agencies and organizations maintaining a mixture of PHP-based and Microsoft-based applications. SSH access is not included with the shared-hosting environment.

The self-managed VPS platform uses VMware virtualization. Entry-level configurations include 1 GB RAM, one virtual CPU, 20 GB of storage, and 1 TB of monthly traffic. The largest standard configuration provides 8 GB RAM, two virtual CPUs, 160 GB of storage, and 8 TB of monthly traffic.

Ubuntu and Windows Server can be installed without an additional installation fee. Other operating systems may also be arranged. Customers are responsible for the administration, updates, security, backup validation, and daily operation of unmanaged servers unless they purchase additional support services.

Optional VPS services include office-hours support, 24-hour assistance, daily backups, proactive monitoring, cPanel, and DirectAdmin. This modular structure makes the basic VPS plans inexpensive for experienced administrators, while customers requiring a fully supported environment can add the operational services they need.

Managed VPS packages combine VMware infrastructure with continuous monitoring, daily backups, proactive incident handling, operating-system administration, and 24/7 technical support. The managed packages use the same basic resource levels as the unmanaged range, but include backup capacity equal to four times the VPS disk allocation. Daily recovery points are retained for 28 days.

Custom hosting is available for systems that cannot be accommodated comfortably within a standard hosting package. Typical environments include business websites, webshops, CRM platforms, document-management systems, intranets, business email infrastructure, VoIP telephone exchanges, and backup platforms.

The custom-hosting service covers technical assessment, infrastructure design, deployment, configuration, testing, monitoring, and ongoing administration. This makes Totaalnet more suitable for Dutch businesses requiring hands-on technical assistance than providers limited to automated commodity hosting.

Domain registration remains an important part of the business. More than 1,200 domain extensions are available, together with domain migration assistance, proprietary nameservers, DNS management, URL forwarding, and technical support. Domains and hosting subscriptions can be managed through the same customer environment.

The SSL portfolio includes domain-validated, organization-validated, extended-validation, wildcard, and multi-domain certificates. Entry-level certificates are suitable for ordinary websites, while organization and extended-validation products provide additional identity verification for companies and online stores.

Consultancy expands the service beyond conventional hosting. Companies can request assessments covering backup procedures, domain portfolios, infrastructure resilience, website availability, SSL implementation, and broader digital risks.

The website is available in Dutch, and products are priced in euros. Published prices exclude the standard 21% Dutch VAT. The service is therefore most practical for Dutch-speaking individuals, agencies, and businesses that prefer local billing and support.

The website remains functional but has a relatively traditional design. Some sections and documents have not received substantial visual or editorial modernization, and the linked VPS service-level agreement dates from 2016.
