The company began in 1996, placed its first server online in late December 1996, and incorporated on January 14, 1997. The business started with four college friends building their own hosting operation, then expanded into domain registration through DomainDiscover in 1999. Since 2021, TierraNet has operated under the ClearHello parent company.The company is best understood as a practical SMB-oriented provider rather than a large cloud-infrastructure platform. Its service range includes Domains, Shared Hosting, WordPress Hosting, VPS Hosting, Email Hosting, SSL Certificates, DNS management, domain transfers, WHOIS lookup, single-page website publishing, URL/frame forwarding, and domain privacy-related services. Dedicated hosting and reseller hosting are not visible as active mainstream product lines, although dedicated services still appear in hosting-related terms.
Shared hosting is split into two main website-hosting plans plus an email-only plan. UltraLite includes 1 GB disk space, 100 GB bandwidth, 1 MySQL database, 10 email addresses, live support, file manager, site statistics, cron jobs, POP/IMAP, WebMail, forwards and autoresponders. Professional increases the allocation to 1 TB disk space, 5 TB bandwidth, unlimited MySQL databases, unlimited email addresses, dedicated IP availability, OpenCart easy install, private SSL certificate availability, and special pricing on domains and GeoTrust EV certificates. WordPress is available as an easy-install option across the hosting service, making it more of a standard WordPress-compatible hosting setup than a deeply managed WordPress platform.
The VPS range is compact and easy to understand. V1 Hosting includes 1 GB RAM, 1 CPU core, 50 GB disk space, 1 TB bandwidth and 1 IP address. V2 Hosting includes 2 GB RAM, 2 CPU cores, 75 GB disk space, 1.5 TB bandwidth and 10 IP addresses. V3 Hosting includes 4 GB RAM, 4 CPU cores, 100 GB disk space, 2 TB bandwidth and 25 IP addresses. VPS features include WordPress Easy Install, site statistics, file manager, cron jobs, PHP, SSH access, unlimited FTP accounts, secure FTP, advanced DNS management, OpenCart, SSL certificates, POP/IMAP, Roundcube Webmail, spam filtering, unlimited forwards, autoresponders and mailing lists.
TierraNet’s domain platform is also a major part of the business. The company supports more than 300 TLDs, premium domains, domain transfers, registrar lock, advanced DNS administration, URL forwarding, frame forwarding, under-construction pages, site statistics and account management through its own control panel. As an ICANN-accredited registrar, TierraNet has a stronger domain-management background than many basic hosting-only companies.
For SSL certificates, TierraNet covers both simple encryption and commercial certificate options. Standard SSL and Standard Wildcard SSL are powered by Let’s Encrypt and require TierraNet nameservers.
