snafu is a long-established German Internet and hosting company with roots dating to 1994 in Berlin. The business started with Interactive Networx GmbH and the snafu brand during the early commercial Internet period in Germany. Robert Rothe and Jörn Lubkoll were associated with the company in its early years. Interactive Networx was acquired by PSINet in 1998, and the snafu operation later became part of Inter.net Germany GmbH in 2000. Since 2020, the operating company has used the name snafu Gesellschaft für interaktive Netzwerke mbH. Christian Röhl joined the management team in 2014 and has served as sole managing director since December 2015.

The company remains based in Berlin and operates as a specialized hosting, infrastructure, networking and E-Commerce provider rather than a conventional mass-market shared-hosting company. E-Commerce infrastructure is one of snafu's strongest areas. Shop Smart uses cloud virtual machines with configurations from 2 to 4 vCPU, 4 to 12 GB RAM and 75 to 150 GB SSD. Shop Pro and Shop Business move into much larger root-server environments with substantially more RAM, multi-core processors, redundant storage and optional or standard redundant power supplies.

These systems are suitable for platforms such as JTL-Shop, Shopware, Magento and WooCommerce. Migration, database administration, staging systems and performance optimization can be combined with the hosting service. SSL, backups, unlimited transfer and infrastructure monitoring are integrated into these environments.

The JTL-Wawi / ERP Hosting portfolio extends this concept to inventory management and business applications. Smart packages use Windows cloud virtual machines, while Pro and Business systems use larger dedicated or hardware-virtualized root servers. Microsoft SQL Server options, Remote Desktop access and dedicated backup capacity are available. JTL-WMS, JTL-POS and JTL Connector can also be integrated.

ERP and CRM hosting is not limited to JTL. The company also works with systems such as Odoo, Xentral and Amtangee, making snafu particularly relevant for online retailers that prefer to keep their webshop, inventory application, databases and infrastructure with one technical provider.

A more unusual part of the portfolio is Mac Server Hosting using dedicated Apple hardware in Berlin. The current Mac Mini M2 configuration includes a 10-core M2 processor, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, a 1 Gbit/s network connection, dedicated IP address, unlimited traffic and full root access. Apple Remote Desktop is supported. This type of hosting is particularly useful for Xcode, Jenkins, macOS and iOS development, FileMaker and CI/CD workflows that require genuine Apple hardware.
