SkySilk is a Los Angeles-based cloud infrastructure company founded in 2015 by Alex Gorban and a team experienced in server hardware, virtualization and IT infrastructure. Its cloud platform entered beta testing in December 2016 and developed into a commercial service during 2017. Kevin Matossian joined the company as chief executive in late 2020.

The company concentrates on cloud servers rather than conventional shared hosting. Its services are best suited to developers, system administrators, agencies and businesses that require root access and direct control over operating systems, applications and network settings. Traditional shared hosting, reseller packages, integrated website builders and domain registration are not central parts of the portfolio.

The principal service is NVMe VPS hosting. Linux deployments support Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Gentoo and openSUSE, while KVM virtualization, VNC console access and custom ISO support provide enough flexibility for more specialized installations. Windows Server can also be installed manually when customers provide compatible media and the required software license.

SkySilk includes an extensive catalog of preconfigured open-source applications. Customers can quickly deploy WordPress, Drupal, Odoo, Magento, PrestaShop, MySQL, Node.js, GitLab, Grafana, Redmine, Nextcloud, ownCloud, OpenVPN, Shadowsocks, LAMP, LEMP, VestaCP, Ajenti and TeamSpeak. These templates simplify initial setup, although regular VPS customers remain responsible for operating-system maintenance, software updates and security unless managed assistance is purchased separately.

The VPS portfolio has included Basic, Standard and Premium service levels. Basic servers are suitable for inexpensive development, testing and lightweight applications. Standard configurations add features such as IPv4 connectivity, backups and snapshots. Premium servers use NVMe storage, offer Intel or AMD processor options, include weekly backups and generate additional SkyPoints through the company’s rewards program.

Reserved IPv4 addresses provide useful flexibility for production services. An address can be detached from one compatible VPS and assigned to another, allowing a website or application to retain the same public IP following a server replacement, migration or rebuild. IPv6 connectivity is also available.

The company’s services extend well beyond ordinary VPS hosting. Dedicated servers combine AMD EPYC processors, NVMe storage, root access and unmetered 1 Gbps connectivity from Los Angeles. These systems are suitable for databases, demanding business applications, high-traffic websites, virtualization and workloads requiring consistent dedicated resources.

Enterprise WordPress hosting adds daily backups, migration assistance, staging environments, threat detection, scalable resources and optional load balancing. It provides a more managed alternative for organizations that need stronger WordPress performance without administering every infrastructure component themselves.

Private cloud and hybrid cloud environments are individually configured for businesses needing isolated compute capacity, distributed storage or infrastructure divided between private and shared resources. AI server hosting covers machine-learning, model-training and GPU-dependent workloads through customized configurations.

SkySilk also provides managed IT services for companies requiring operational support rather than infrastructure alone. These services include backup and disaster recovery, remote monitoring, cybersecurity, VPN deployment, Microsoft 365 administration, Google Workspace administration and remote or on-site support in the Los Angeles area.

The cloud environment favors open-source software, direct server access and flexible infrastructure management. This approach works particularly well for technically experienced customers, although beginners may find it more demanding than an ordinary shared hosting account.
