📄 Editorial Review

Servers Australia is a 100% Australian-owned cloud and infrastructure provider founded in 2006 by Jared Hirst. The business began with web hosting and gradually developed into a specialist infrastructure company covering dedicated hardware, virtual environments, storage, colocation, networking, cybersecurity, backup, disaster recovery, and professional IT services. It remains privately held, employs approximately 51–200 people, and is headquartered in New South Wales.

Its development into an infrastructure-focused provider became especially clear in March 2016, when approximately 4,000 shared hosting customers were transferred to VentraIP. This allowed Servers Australia to concentrate on dedicated servers and Infrastructure as a Service rather than competing in the crowded entry-level shared hosting market. Subsequent acquisitions brought customers, servers, racks, and infrastructure from Dedicated Servers, Indigo, Syncom, Oz Servers, and Axelera. These transactions expanded the customer base by several thousand accounts and added more than 300 racks and over 3,000 servers. A North Sydney data center asset was later sold to 5G Networks in 2020.

The main product range starts with Dedicated Servers. Value servers use standardized configurations that are kept in stock, supplied on month-to-month terms, and intended for rapid deployment without a lengthy commitment. Blaze servers combine high-frequency Intel Xeon processors with enterprise NVMe storage and are suitable for databases, virtualization, software platforms, and applications that rely heavily on single-core performance.

Enterprise systems use HPE ProLiant hardware for business-critical and mission-critical environments. These configurations provide greater flexibility in processor selection, memory capacity, storage architecture, redundancy, and remote management. They are better suited to companies running important applications that require stable hardware standards and longer operational lifecycles.

GPU Dedicated Servers extend the range into artificial intelligence, machine learning, rendering, analytics, and high-performance computing. Available accelerators include NVIDIA L4, A16, L40, L40S, and H200 GPUs. Multi-GPU configurations, PCIe Gen4 or Gen5 connectivity, and HPE ProLiant Gen11 or Gen12 platforms support both moderately sized GPU workloads and demanding enterprise deployments.

The cloud range includes Essentials Cloud Servers, storage-focused cloud instances, VMware Private Cloud, and Virtual Data Centres. Essentials Cloud Servers provide a balanced combination of virtual processors, memory, NVMe storage, and monthly data transfer. Storage Cloud Servers place more emphasis on disk capacity and sustained input/output performance for data-intensive applications.

Cloud resources are isolated to reduce noisy-neighbor interference, while high availability and DDoS mitigation are integrated into the wider platform. This makes the service more appropriate for production environments than low-cost VPS platforms built around heavily oversubscribed nodes.

VMware Private Cloud provides a dedicated and isolated virtualization environment powered by VMware vCloud Director. It is suitable for organizations that need private networking, stronger workload separation, predictable operating expenditure, and the ability to expand infrastructure without building and maintaining their own VMware cluster.

Virtual Data Centres provide a more flexible self-service environment. Customers can deploy virtual servers, build public and private networks, configure firewall rules, and create VPN connections through a unified interface. This approach works well for businesses and managed service providers that need to operate several interconnected workloads within one logically isolated environment.

The Cloud Storage portfolio covers file, block, network, and object storage. CephFS provides scalable POSIX-compatible shared storage for applications and multiple users. iSCSI and RBD provide block-level storage for servers, databases, and virtual machines. NFS supports conventional network file-sharing requirements, while Object Storage is suitable for backups, media libraries, archives, application assets, logs, and other large collections of unstructured data.

The Ceph architecture adds replication, scalability, and self-healing capabilities without requiring customers to purchase and administer their own storage arrays. Storage capacity can therefore be expanded more easily as project requirements increase.

Colocation is available in 1RU, 2RU, 4RU, 6RU, and 10RU allocations, together with half racks, lockable half racks, and complete racks with 3kW, 4kW, or 6kW power allocations. Packages include redundant network connectivity, a 1 Gbps connection, DDoS mitigation, IPv4 addresses, optional IPv6, remote support, and power arrangements suitable for both compact deployments and higher-density equipment.

Network services include IP Transit and FortiGate next-generation firewalls. IP Transit can be supplied with flat-rate or burstable bandwidth, BGP routing, community tagging, multiple Australian points of presence, and 1 Gbps, 10 Gbps, or 100 Gbps ports.

FortiGate services combine firewall protection with antivirus scanning, intrusion detection and prevention, application control, and IPsec or SSL VPN connectivity. These services are useful for companies that require managed perimeter security without purchasing, installing, and maintaining their own appliances.

Backup and continuity services include Veeam Backup Instance, Acronis Cyber Protect, business-continuity planning, immutable ransomware storage, and hardened Veeam repositories. The Acronis environment is hosted within Australian facilities and supports physical servers, virtual machines, and cloud workloads.

Immutable storage options provide object locking, hardened repositories, deduplication, compression, and controls intended to prevent compromised administrator accounts from modifying or deleting protected backups. These capabilities are especially valuable for organizations planning ransomware recovery and regulatory retention strategies.

The broader cloud-solutions portfolio includes Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, VMware clusters, Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware ESXi, hyperconverged infrastructure, VPN services, intrusion prevention, endpoint protection, antivirus, malware defense, hybrid cloud architecture, and managed infrastructure services for MSPs.

VMware ESXi deployments can include High Availability, Distributed Resource Scheduler, vMotion, fault tolerance, and isolated multi-tenant clusters. Professional Services can be purchased through an account-wide agreement or as monitoring and maintenance for individual servers and services.

Servers Australia is no longer focused on traditional shared hosting, reseller packages, inexpensive domain bundles, or website-builder products. Its services are better suited to established businesses, software developers, managed service providers, government suppliers, and technical teams that need Australian infrastructure with direct access to experienced engineers.

The company operates an English-language website, and prices are normally displayed in Australian dollars excluding GST.
