📄 Editorial Review

ratiokontakt GmbH is a German hosting, cloud, server, and data-center specialist founded in 1996 and headquartered in Bamberg, Bavaria. The company has operated its own approximately 1,000 m² data center in Nuremberg since 2003, giving it direct control over an important part of the infrastructure used for its hosting and managed services. Its information-security management is certified according to ISO/IEC 27001, while its industry memberships include RIPE, eco, and DENIC.

The service portfolio is particularly broad for a medium-sized German provider. It covers Linux and Windows Web Hosting, Reseller Hosting, VPS, Dedicated Servers, GPU Servers, Managed Hosting, Colocation, Cloud Hosting, Domains, SSL Certificates, E-mail, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, Nextcloud, Object Storage, backup services, and IT consulting. This makes ratiokontakt suitable not only for conventional websites but also for agencies, online shops, SaaS applications, corporate IT environments, and customers needing individually managed infrastructure.

Standard Web Hosting packages can run on Linux or Windows and use SSD storage. Depending on the package, customers receive MySQL databases, Microsoft SQL Server support, e-mail accounts, SSL, domain services, developer tools, and access through Plesk. Typical applications including WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, TYPO3, Magento, WooCommerce, and Shopware can be operated within these environments.

For agencies and web professionals, Webhosting Pro extends the normal hosting platform with reseller and white-label capabilities. Customer accounts can be created and managed separately, while disk space and other resources can be allocated according to individual client requirements. This is complemented by a partner program for agencies and resellers.

The server range includes Virtual Servers, Dedicated Servers, and GPU Servers. Linux and Windows configurations are available, and customers can choose between self-managed systems with administrative access and fully managed environments. Dedicated servers are built around individual requirements rather than a very narrow collection of fixed configurations.

GPU Servers address workloads such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, image processing, and rendering. Configurations can include NVIDIA GPU hardware, enterprise SSD storage, RAID controllers, and high-speed network connectivity of up to 10 Gbit/s.

Cloud services combine ratiokontakt's own infrastructure with consulting and management for Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. Their cloud work can include infrastructure planning, identity and access management, migration, backup strategies, monitoring, billing, and cost optimization. Private and shared cloud environments are also available through the company's own infrastructure.

The collaboration and storage portfolio is another strong part of the service range. Hosted Nextcloud provides dedicated resources and larger storage allocations, while S3-compatible Object Storage uses a Ceph-based architecture and supports features such as Object Lock for immutable data. Additional business services include Hosted Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, Clustermail, relay accounts for outgoing mail, backup storage, and individually managed backup solutions.

Domain registration has been part of the company for many years. Domain customers receive registration services for German and international extensions together with DNS management, forwarding, reseller options, and bulk-domain handling. SSL certificates are available in DV, OV, EV, wildcard, and multi-domain variants.

The website is primarily available in German, and no complete English-language/localized version exists. The overall service structure is clearly oriented toward commercial and professional customers rather than inexpensive entry-level personal hosting.
