It uses the same anycast DNS technology as the managed tier but is intended for customers who handle the move, DNS record changes, and ongoing administration themselves through the control panel. It is appropriate when the customer is comfortable managing DNS but wants resilient anycast operation, DDoS-resistant infrastructure, redundant global nodes, and the option to contact Rackfish if deeper support is required. The platform carries a 100% availability SLA for DNS availability.
Rackfish Anycast DNS is built for domains that depend on stable name resolution for websites, mail, online stores, and other services. The DNS platform uses 25 geographically dispersed nodes in 16 locations, load balanced and redundant through anycast. If a node fails, it is automatically removed from traffic, and the platform operates in two anycast clouds for redundancy. The DNS service includes 24/7 monitoring and management at the infrastructure level, and the platform has DDoS protection through CIRA infrastructure that can resist, isolate, and manage DNS attacks. DNS can be used even when the domain itself or the hosting is not with Rackfish. Alias records are supported, and support can help with DNS settings when needed.
