Porkbun is a small, independent ICANN-accredited registrar and hosting provider founded in 2015 in Portland, Oregon by Ray King (also known for SnapNames and Top Level Design) and a small team. Public information places the company in the 2–10 employee range, yet they manage a surprisingly large customer base: by late 2025 they report more than 3 million domains under management and recognition as a top registrar from several industry and mainstream outlets.

The brand uses playful, pig-themed visuals, but the product mix is serious enough for most small sites and side projects. Porkbun is set up so that you register a domain and attach hosting and email in just a few steps. Domains include free WHOIS privacy, free wildcard SSL (Let’s Encrypt) on domains using Porkbun nameservers, free URL forwarding, DNS management and API access, which is a strong feature set for a budget-friendly registrar. Pricing is in US dollars (USD), with a long list of legacy and new TLDs and aggressive first-year promotions combined with competitive renewal rates.

On top of the domain core, Porkbun offers a compact but well-structured hosting lineup. The main web hosting products are:

Overall, Porkbun is clearly a registrar first and a hosting provider second, but the hosting side is more modern and diverse than many expect. There is no VPS or dedicated server line, so this is not the right destination for very heavy workloads, but for people starting from a domain and wanting integrated hosting it is a very practical environment.
