Penguin Internet Ltd is a Cardiff, Wales-based hosting and IT services company incorporated on October 24, 2005, with business roots extending further back through an earlier partnership and more than three decades of wider IT experience. The company was founded by Chrissie Williams, while Christine Sinnot Hemmings and Christopher James Hemmings have served as directors of Penguin Internet Ltd since its incorporation.

Penguin Internet operates as a relatively compact UK technical business rather than a mass-market international hosting brand. Its activities combine hosting infrastructure, domain services, web development and traditional IT support. The company has an estimated 11–50 employees and manages its hosting infrastructure directly in the United Kingdom.

Shared Hosting is Linux-based and managed through cPanel. Six hosting levels are available, ranging from Starter to Enterprise Plus. SSL is included even with the entry package, while larger plans add higher storage and bandwidth allocations together with functionality such as DNS management, cron jobs and SpamAssassin filtering. Standard hosting functionality includes FTP access, databases, POP/IMAP/SMTP email, SSL management, custom error pages and the usual cPanel administration tools.

Shared and reseller accounts operate with a soft limit of 100,000 inodes. Accounts exceeding 250,000 inodes are considered unsuitable for the shared environment and are expected to move to VPS or dedicated infrastructure. This provides a clearer resource policy than hosting offers based around loosely defined unlimited usage.

Reseller Hosting combines cPanel with WHM. Resellers can create individual customer accounts, define hosting packages, allocate resources and provide customers with their own cPanel access. The service also supports reseller branding and private nameservers where appropriate. Penguin maintains the underlying server platform, while resellers remain responsible for supporting their own hosting customers.

The VPS service uses KVM virtualization and provides root-level control. Packages range from 512 MB RAM with one CPU core to 4 GB RAM with four cores, while storage ranges from 10 GB to 100 GB and monthly transfer from 100 GB to 1 TB. Available Linux distributions include Debian, Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, Fedora and SUSE. Windows Server licensing, cPanel, Softaculous and managed-server services can be added when required.

Dedicated Servers are configured around individual hardware and budget requirements rather than being restricted to a small number of standard configurations. Unmanaged servers start at approximately £49 per month, depending on hardware availability. Connectivity is normally provided through burstable 100 Mbps ports, with additional transit available when required. cPanel can be added, together with server-management services.

Some dedicated-server information still contains legacy references to older operating systems and control panels, so current hardware, software and licensing requirements are best confirmed when obtaining a dedicated-server quotation.

Colocation extends from individual 1U and 2U servers through quarter racks, half racks, full racks and private configurations. Connections of up to 10 Gbps are possible. Individual colocated systems can include premium transit and remote reboot facilities, while rack configurations benefit from dual power feeds, redundant cooling, UPS and generator protection, redundant connectivity and continuous monitoring. Remote hands and KVM-over-IP services are also available.

Continuous Data Protection backup services provide incremental block-level snapshots as frequently as every 15 minutes. The backup platform supports Windows and Linux environments together with physical and virtual servers, including KVM, VMware and Hyper-V systems.

Penguin Internet is also a Nominet Accredited Registrar, making domain registration an important part of the business. UK extensions are supported alongside a broad selection of generic and international TLDs. Many domains can be registered for periods between one and ten years and managed through the customer area. Domain parking and WHOIS/ID protection are also available for supported extensions.

SSL services cover certificates from the GeoTrust and RapidSSL families, including basic domain-validated certificates, wildcard products, business validation and EV certificates. Shared hosting already includes AutoSSL, so commercial certificates are mainly useful where specific validation requirements or branded certificate products are needed.

Web development remains another important part of the company. Services include custom website design, WordPress work, template customization, e-commerce development, PHP programming, MySQL database development, application installation and ongoing website maintenance. This combination can be useful for small and medium businesses that prefer development, hosting and infrastructure support from the same technical company.

The company uses a traditional, older-style website design, and some technical information still reflects earlier generations of hosting software.
