NovaTrend is an independent Swiss hosting and infrastructure provider established in 2004. The business began as NovaTrend Brunner + Co before becoming NovaTrend Services GmbH, with Michael Brunner closely associated with its foundation and long-term management. Tomislav Sljuka is also an owner and serves as chairman of management.

The company is headquartered in Baar, in the canton of Zug. Although NovaTrend remains a compact organization, it supports more than 15,000 websites and manages over 10,000 domain names. Its size allows customers to deal with an experienced Swiss technical team rather than a large, heavily layered support organization.

NovaTrend absorbed Domainhost GmbH (domainhost.ch) in May 2017. The merger transferred CHF 29,752.23 in assets and CHF 4,368.55 in liabilities to NovaTrend. Its registered headquarters later moved from Wallisellen to Baar in December 2020.

The product range extends well beyond ordinary website hosting. NovaTrend provides Linux shared hosting, reseller hosting, standalone email hosting, compliance-oriented hosting, KVM cloud servers, managed cPanel servers, custom dedicated servers, domains, SSL certificates, groupware, website creation, endpoint and server backup, cybersecurity, document management, email archiving and Proxmox subscriptions.

The shared hosting range includes Basic, Top, Pro, Plus, Max and Speed. Resources start with one processor core, 1 GB RAM and 50 GB of storage, while the largest package provides four processor cores, 8 GB RAM and 500 GB of storage. All packages include unlimited traffic, email accounts, subdomains, parked domains and additional FTP users.

The hosting platform combines LiteSpeed, CloudLinux account isolation, MySQL databases, selectable PHP versions, Git, SSH, SFTP, scheduled tasks, application installers and free SSL certificates. Storage is based on SSD technology or SSD caching, depending on the package and underlying system.

Customers can host between five and 15 additional domains within one account. The larger packages also provide more backup storage, additional Open-Xchange users, workstation backup licenses, endpoint protection and mobile-device backup.

The Top plan is the most practical choice for a normal company website, WordPress installation or small online shop. It includes two processor cores, 4 GB RAM, 100 GB of storage, five groupware users, website-building tools and extended backup capacity. Pro, Plus, Max and Speed are better suited to agencies, busier online stores and websites that need more memory, processing capacity or disk space.

Compliance-Optimized Hosting creates a more restrictive environment for websites and stores subject to PCI DSS-related payment-security requirements. External access is limited to HTTP and HTTPS, while cPanel and SSH administration are restricted to approved static IP addresses or VPN connections.

Email and DNS hosting are separated from these compliance-oriented servers. This reduces the number of exposed services and provides a more tightly controlled environment for payment-related websites.

Web designers and agencies can choose from four Reseller Hosting packages supporting 10, 20, 30 or 50 independent customer accounts. Resellers receive centralized administration and can create, allocate and manage separate hosting accounts under their own company identity, while NovaTrend maintains the servers and network.

The standalone Mail package includes 10 GB of storage, unlimited mailboxes, unlimited forwarding addresses, five Open-Xchange users and unlimited webmail users. Open-Xchange adds calendars, contacts, tasks, shared files, document editing and spreadsheet functions. Groupware access is also included with the Top shared hosting package and above.

NovaTrend’s virtual server range is built around KVM cloud servers. The SSD configurations extend from 0.5 vCPU, 2 GB RAM and 60 GB of storage to 16 vCPU, 64 GB RAM and 1.92 TB of storage. The newer NVMe configurations reach 16 vCPU, 96 GB RAM and 2 TB of storage.

KVM and QEMU provide full virtualization with root access and independent operating-system control. These servers are suitable for custom web stacks, development systems, databases, VPN gateways, communication platforms and other applications that require more control than ordinary shared hosting.

Cloud servers normally deploy within 24 hours and include IPv4, IPv6, DDoS protection and daily backups retained for seven days in a second Swiss facility. The server panel supports power controls, console access and complete operating-system reinstallation.

Available installation media include AlmaLinux, Debian, Fedora, Trisquel, Ubuntu, FreeBSD and OpenBSD. This provides a useful mixture of mainstream Linux distributions and BSD operating systems.

Preconfigured cPanel Cloud Servers are offered with either SSD or NVMe storage. They use CloudLinux and can be supplemented with server administration, monitoring, security, spam filtering, longer backup retention and additional commercial licenses.

Managed service covers operating-system updates, cPanel maintenance, kernel updates, service monitoring and technical assistance. This is a practical option for agencies and companies that need an isolated server without employing a full-time Linux administrator.

Dedicated servers are prepared according to individual requirements rather than a fixed public hardware catalogue. This allows processor, memory, storage and management requirements to be tailored to a particular application, although customers must request a quotation before comparing a complete dedicated-server configuration.

NovaTrend also supplies Proxmox Virtual Environment, Proxmox Backup Server and Proxmox Datacenter Manager subscriptions. Assistance is available for platform design, installation, migration and continuing operation of Proxmox environments.

Domain services cover Swiss, international, European and numerous national extensions. More than 10,000 domains are managed through the customer center, where customers can update nameservers, maintain DNS records, obtain transfer authorization codes and administer renewals.

Transfers for .ch, .li, .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info and .at can preserve the remaining paid registration period. This avoids losing unused registration time when moving supported domains to NovaTrend.

The included SiteBuilder provides responsive templates, drag-and-drop page construction, search-engine settings, social-media integration, online-shop functions and PayPal widgets. It is useful for customers who need a straightforward company website or small store without installing and maintaining a separate content-management system.

Security and backup services are a major part of the portfolio. Cyber Protect can secure Windows and macOS workstations, Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft 365 mailboxes, Android devices and iPhones or iPads within NovaTrend’s redundant Swiss backup infrastructure.

The system supports full-machine images, incremental backups, version history, individual file recovery and complete system restoration. Higher hosting plans also include protection against malware, ransomware, phishing, malicious websites and previously unknown threats.

DigitalDocs is a managed document-management environment operated on a dedicated server. Access is protected through VPN connections, while stored documents use AES-256 encryption. Optical character recognition makes scanned documents searchable.

The platform includes user permissions, approval workflows, file versioning, metadata, two-factor authentication, audit records, secure sharing and API access. Daily backups remain recoverable for 180 days, making the product suitable for companies that need structured document retention rather than ordinary cloud storage.

The Email Archiving service automatically retains incoming and outgoing business messages in a separate tamper-resistant archive. It includes configurable retention periods, attachment indexing, full-text searching, centralized permissions, TLS transmission encryption and AES storage encryption.

Email archiving is designed for Swiss businesses subject to commercial-document retention requirements, Swiss data-protection rules and applicable GDPR obligations. It is available when the company’s email MX records point to NovaTrend.

Free migration is included with a new web hosting order. The migration covers one website and up to five mailboxes when requested within 30 days of ordering.

The website is available in German and English, and product prices are displayed in Swiss francs. Both desktop and mobile navigation are modern and responsive, although the German version contains the most comprehensive legal and technical information.
