Multacom is a long-established U.S. hosting and data-center company focused primarily on dedicated infrastructure, colocation and network services rather than conventional mass-market shared hosting. The business traces its origins to 1997 in Orange County, California, when a group of experienced system and network engineers began developing the operation. Multacom Corporation was incorporated in California in 2005, while founder Kiarash Jahangiri has been closely associated with the company and its development.

A major corporate change took place in July 2023, when Australian data-center operator Edge Centres (edgecentres.com) acquired Multacom. The Multacom brand and team continued operating after the acquisition, while the Los Angeles infrastructure became part of the broader Edge Centres data-center network. The company remains relatively specialized in size, with an employee range of approximately 11–50 people.

The current service portfolio is strongly infrastructure-oriented and includes Dedicated Servers, Windows Dedicated Servers, Colocation, Private Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, Managed Infrastructure, IP Transit, reseller services and wholesale infrastructure. Traditional shared hosting and domain-related services have existed historically, but the current commercial focus is clearly on customers needing physical servers, private environments, racks and network connectivity.

Dedicated Servers form one of the main product groups. Both Linux and Windows configurations are available, with Intel Xeon hardware ranging from Xeon E3 systems through larger Xeon E5 and dual Xeon Silver configurations. Entry systems can start with around 16 GB RAM, while the largest configurable platforms can reach substantially higher memory capacities, including configurations approaching 1 TB.

Storage options include SSDs and enterprise hard drives, with multiple-drive configurations available for applications requiring redundancy, capacity or higher I/O performance. Standard connectivity uses Gigabit Ethernet, while 10 Gbps upgrades are available. Depending on the server class, included monthly traffic allowances can range from around 20 TB to approximately 70 TB.

The server catalog works particularly well for traditional web hosting, databases, virtualization, private application environments, storage workloads and businesses that prefer full control over physical hardware. Several of the standard Xeon E3, Xeon E5 and earlier Xeon Scalable systems are mature platforms rather than the newest server generations, so the strongest value is often in RAM, bandwidth and dedicated-resource availability rather than cutting-edge CPU performance.

Windows Dedicated Servers use the same underlying hardware approach, with Microsoft licensing added separately. Linux remains more economical when no commercial operating-system license is required.

Private Cloud and Hybrid Cloud environments are suitable for companies needing dedicated resources with greater isolation than a conventional public cloud. Configurations can combine dedicated hardware, private networking and managed assistance, making them appropriate for databases, enterprise applications, AI/ML workloads and other environments where resource control is important. These solutions are customized rather than sold as a simple fixed-price cloud package.

Colocation ranges from single-server deployments through quarter, half and full cabinets. Single-server colocation accommodates hardware up to 6U, while larger plans provide approximately 10U for a quarter cabinet and 21U for a half cabinet. Full racks are also available. Customers can ship their own servers directly to the facility and use services such as IP-KVM, remote reboot and 24/7 on-site assistance.

The colocation service is especially useful for companies that already own suitable hardware but do not want the expense and complexity of operating their own facility. Power, cooling, connectivity, physical security and remote technical assistance can all be handled within the same environment.

IP Transit is another important part of the business. Multacom operates its own network and serves hosting companies, ISPs, data centers and enterprises requiring higher-capacity Internet connectivity. This gives the company a stronger networking component than hosting providers that simply resell connectivity from a single upstream carrier.

Dedicated-server and colocation resellers are also supported. The reseller and wholesale model can accommodate businesses purchasing larger quantities of servers or infrastructure, while affiliate arrangements provide recurring commission opportunities.
