Go Further With Grid
Grid puts a massive, shared cluster of hefty hardware and finely-tuned architecture behind your sites instead of limiting them to a single server.
Speed
All SSD Storage
We’ve got solid-state technology at every turn, so your data and databases perform faster and more reliably than with a clockwork of moving HDD parts.
Smooth Scaling
When our tools detect bursts of activity on your site, your database automatically shifts to an independent container that handles the load smoothly.
Security
DDOS & Intrusion Protection
Your sites stay safe from botnets and hackers thanks to around-the-clock security monitoring plus protection from denial-of-service attacks and intrusion.
30-Day File Backup & Restore
Don’t let a little problem become the end of the world. Easy, automatic backup and restore options ensure any mistakes are low stakes.
Ease
Managed App Catalog
Build bolder with one-click installs of over 20 apps including WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla plus popular open-source options for e-commerce, cloud storage, and more.
Control Panel
Server admin gets simpler with our custom-built control panel: Modern, streamlined, and designed from the ground up with real people in mind.

📄 Editorial Review
Media Temple (mediatemple.net) was a well-known US hosting company created for web designers, developers, agencies, entrepreneurs, and businesses that wanted more than ordinary low-cost shared hosting. The company’s roots went back to 1998, when Demian Sellfors created Intergress Technologies. Media Temple later developed around the work of Demian Sellfors, John Carey, and Thomas Anthony, becoming one of the most recognizable premium hosting brands of the early web-hosting era.Media Temple is now a closed / inactive hosting brand. The company was acquired by GoDaddy in October 2013, continued for several years as a separate premium brand, and was finally retired after the migration of Media Temple accounts into GoDaddy. The transition started in February 2023, and by September 2023 the Media Temple brand had effectively disappeared as a standalone provider. The domain mediatemple.net now redirects into GoDaddy’s Media Temple transition area.
At its peak, Media Temple served more than 125,000 customers, hosted over 1.5 million websites, and had customers in more than 100 countries. This made it a major specialist hosting brand, especially among creative professionals, WordPress developers, agencies, publishers, and businesses that preferred a more technical and polished hosting environment.
Their historical product range included Shared Hosting, VPS Hosting, Managed VPS, Dedicated Servers, Managed WordPress Hosting, Cloud Hosting, Domain Registration, Website Builder, SSL Certificates, CDN / WAF, Security Pack, Managed Services, business email, and cloud consulting services. Media Temple also had a managed cloud direction later in its life, including services around Amazon Web Services.
One of their most famous products was The Grid, a clustered shared-hosting platform built to spread websites across multiple servers rather than keeping them tied to one traditional shared server. This gave Media Temple a more advanced image than many ordinary shared-hosting companies at the time. The Grid was especially attractive for designers and developers who wanted better scaling, SSD-backed performance, DDoS and intrusion protection, and a more resilient hosting architecture.
Their VPS Hosting was split between self-managed and managed options. Self-managed VPS plans were better for advanced users who wanted full SSH access, root access, Linux OS flexibility, premium SSD hardware, and instant upgrades. Managed VPS plans were easier for users who wanted stronger support, application installation help, and a familiar server-management environment with cPanel or Plesk.
Their Dedicated Servers were built for higher workloads and included SSD storage, multi-core Intel Xeon hardware, and managed or fully managed options. Managed servers historically included CentOS-based software stacks, Apache, PHP, package management, and a choice between Plesk or cPanel depending on the configuration. Self-managed dedicated servers gave experienced administrators more direct server control.
Media Temple also became known for professional support and developer-oriented service. They had a strong presence in the design and WordPress communities, and their branding was more refined than the usual mass-market hosting provider. They were not the cheapest company, but their reputation was built around quality hosting, serious support, and a hosting environment friendly to creative professionals.

😠 I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years. A month ago they deleted my account altogether because i wasn't able to pay my hosting bill in time. The reason being i was in the hospital due to a serious health complication.
After i got home i received an email that my account had been deleted.
I sent mediatemple 3 emails to ask if there would be a possibility to restore my account, i mean every hosting company holds backups! I received no reply. Then i tried calling and the service agent hung up on me!
I know i should had paid in time but due to circumstances that was impossible. I kindly asked if they could restore my account with a back up, nothing more.
How can you treat a loyal customer of 10+ years that way? At least reply to my question and don't hang up on me.
Worthless and rude customer service.
Oh yeah, and their tech service is a joke as well! Every time something was wrong they would blame it on me, incompetent tech support to say at least.
Stay away from mediatemple. They don't value you as a customer, even if you've been with them for 10+ years.

😁 To say I'm happy with Media Temple is an understatement.
Ever since joining Media Temple in 2009, I've had nothing but positive things to say about them. Their customer service is beyond anything I've dealt with in the past with other web hosting companies.

😃 Support on the phones is legendary.
No matter how noobish the question is, right through to discussing ideas on mail migration, Mediatemple's staff are great to talk to.
Live chat is an added bonus of getting straight to the points AND they save the chat so you have a record of any commands / help / advice to fall back on.
