Mean Servers is an independent American hosting and infrastructure provider founded in May 2014 in Denver, Colorado. The company expanded into Los Angeles in September 2015 and now focuses on shared cloud hosting, KVM virtual servers, managed infrastructure, dedicated servers, domain services, and custom network solutions.

They own and operate their server and networking equipment within facilities in Denver and Los Angeles. Their infrastructure combines company-controlled hardware, independent IP resources, IPv6 support, BGP capabilities, and access to several upstream networks.

The main shared hosting range uses DirectAdmin and runs on an Apache CloudStack environment with replicated storage. Accounts include Installatron application installation, IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity, email services, databases, and reseller functionality on the larger packages. The range covers a very small Micro account, conventional single-site hosting, and larger reseller-oriented packages.

DirectAdmin is now the standard shared hosting control panel. Older cPanel shared hosting references still exist in some parts of the company catalog, but cPanel shared packages are no longer included in the regular hosting range. Customers who specifically require cPanel should confirm whether it can still be supplied as a custom option.

Virtual servers form one of the strongest parts of the Mean Servers portfolio. All regular VPS services use KVM virtualization, providing isolated virtual machines with dedicated resource allocations. The main categories include unmanaged SSD VPS, accelerated NVMe VPS, Windows VPS, enterprise managed VPS, 100 Mbps unmetered VPS, and 1 Gbps unmetered VPS.

The unmanaged SSD and accelerated NVMe services are intended for customers capable of maintaining their own operating system, firewall, security configuration, updates, and applications. Windows VPS packages include remote desktop access and allow customers to supply their own compatible Windows license.

Enterprise managed VPS packages add operating-system maintenance, security work, monitoring, performance optimization, software assistance, reports, telephone support, and an included amount of administrative work each month. These plans are more suitable for companies that need server-level flexibility without maintaining an internal Linux administrator.

The unmetered VPS range is divided by port speed. Customers can select dedicated 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps connectivity rather than relying on a limited monthly transfer allowance. This can be useful for content delivery, file distribution, remote backups, streaming applications, and other bandwidth-intensive workloads.

Budget VPS packages remain part of the older service catalog, although they are not normally available for immediate deployment. The same caution applies to the previous 10 Gbps unmetered VPS range. Its technical specifications and pricing remain accessible, but it is not part of the main active service selection.

The dedicated-server range is relatively compact. One configuration uses an Intel Xeon E3-1240 v2 processor with 16 GB of ECC memory, while the larger system uses two Intel Xeon E5-2670 processors with 128 GB of ECC memory, SSD storage, and NVMe storage. Both include IPMI remote management, five IPv4 addresses, optional IPv6 connectivity, a 1 Gbps port, and 10 TB of monthly transfer.

These dedicated servers use mature enterprise hardware rather than recent-generation processors. They remain practical for backups, storage, virtualization, development environments, general business applications, and workloads that benefit from higher core counts, but they are less attractive for applications requiring the latest single-core performance.

Server administration can be purchased separately, including for machines hosted with another provider. Available work includes control-panel installation, firewall configuration, rootkit detection, brute-force protection, service hardening, SSH security, software updates, kernel updates, monitoring, and incident resolution.

The Full Management package provides the most complete administrative coverage, including proactive monitoring, problem resolution, daily updates, and regular uptime reports. Lower-cost management packages cover a more limited selection of maintenance and security work.

Additional services include domain registration, domain transfers, reseller hosting, VPS reseller resources, additional email storage, website and application migration, IP address announcements, and managed BGP sessions.

The VPS reseller platform uses SolusVM and supports white-label provisioning across Denver and Los Angeles. Resellers can create and manage virtual servers for their own clients without exposing the underlying infrastructure provider. Availability and current commercial terms should be confirmed directly because this service is not prominently included in the regular ordering process.

WordPress, Magento, and Moodle hosting also remain part of the wider catalog. These packages use isolated KVM virtual environments with SSD storage, nginx, PHP-FPM, managed updates, and migration assistance. Some of their published software specifications are based on older CentOS, PHP, and MariaDB versions, so the exact operating system and application stack should be confirmed before ordering.

A retired SSL certificate category also remains accessible. It contains older Symantec branding and obsolete browser terminology, so it should not be considered part of the current certificate portfolio. Domain registration and transfer services remain available.

Their own business systems are virtualized across the same cloud architecture used for customers. This reduces dependence on individual physical machines and allows services to be moved or recovered more easily after a hardware problem.

The website has an older, text-heavy layout and contains a mixture of current services and legacy product information. Some hardware specifications, operating systems, certificate products, and application-hosting details have not been updated consistently. The company remains functional, but customers should request written confirmation of stock, software versions, licensing, location, hardware generation, and refund eligibility before purchasing a longer billing term.
