Masterhost is one of Russia’s established hosting and domain-service companies, with operations dating back to 1999. The company developed from a traditional web hosting provider into a broader infrastructure business serving individual website owners, developers, ecommerce projects and corporate customers.

Leonid Filatov was one of the company’s founders and managed Masterhost during much of its early development. He sold his interest and left the business in 2011. A proposed merger with REG.RU was also discussed in 2011, but the transaction was suspended and never completed.

The operating company is LLC MASTERHOST, registered in Moscow. Stanislav Shmilyak serves as general director and holds a 51% ownership interest, while Natalia Shmilyak owns the remaining 49%. Russian corporate information lists approximately 25 employees and revenue of around RUB 279.8 million for 2025.

The service range is considerably broader than basic shared hosting. It includes Linux shared hosting, configurable hosting, application containers, Bitrix hosting, isolated professional hosting, KVM VPS, private cloud infrastructure, load balancing, dedicated servers, colocation, rack rental, storage systems, business email, domain registration, SSL certificates, DDoS protection, website construction, software licenses and server administration.

Shared hosting is suitable for ordinary websites, content-management systems, blogs, company pages and smaller online stores. The platform uses SSD storage and includes unmetered traffic, automated backups, firewall protection, FTP, SSH, access logs and a browser-based file manager.

The supported software environment includes PHP versions from 5.6 through 8.5, MySQL 8.0 through 8.4, Python and Perl. Different PHP versions can be assigned to individual projects, which is useful when several websites with different technical requirements are hosted under the same account.

Popular CMS applications can be installed automatically. Domain-based email, spam filtering, SSL support and website migration assistance are integrated into the hosting environment.

The active shared hosting platform is Linux-based. Windows shared hosting does not exist in the current catalog, although Windows Server licenses can be added to compatible dedicated-server configurations.

A 30-day hosting trial costs RUB 1 and supports as many as three websites. A bank card does not need to remain attached to the account, making the trial a practical way to test application compatibility, performance and the control interface before purchasing a regular package.

Custom hosting provides greater control over allocated storage and project resources while retaining the managed hosting environment. Customers continue to receive SSD storage, backups, SSH, FTP, current PHP and MySQL versions and continuous technical assistance.

The Server for Yourself service provides an isolated hosting environment for more resource-intensive projects. It includes 600 GB of SSD storage, capacity for as many as 100 websites and up to 100 GB of email storage. The customer receives the simplicity of a managed hosting account while workloads remain separated from ordinary shared infrastructure.

Application Hosting uses isolated containers for Python applications, Node.js services, PHP projects, databases, APIs, bots, microservices and internal business tools. Plans begin with 1 GB RAM and 5 GB SSD storage, while larger configurations provide up to 6 GB RAM, 50 GB storage and support for as many as 100 applications or websites.

Container resources can be increased as an application grows. Monitoring and backup functions are included, reducing the amount of infrastructure administration required from developers.

The dedicated Bitrix Hosting environment is optimized for 1C-Bitrix websites and ecommerce projects. It combines high-frequency processors, SSD storage, modern PHP and MySQL versions, scheduled tasks, backups, firewall protection and DDoS mitigation. Bitrix software licenses can also be rented through Masterhost.

The website builder contains more than 200 responsive templates and includes ecommerce functionality, web forms, analytics and integrations with payment and CRM systems. Hosting, SSL and domain-based email are included. A free demonstration allows customers to examine the builder before ordering.

KVM VPS is the main virtual-server service. Virtual machines use NVMe storage, DDR4 memory and a private network operating at up to 1 Gbps. Each server includes root access, an IPv4 address, VNC console access, ISO mounting, snapshots and direct start, stop and reboot controls.

VPS usage is billed by the minute. This model works well for temporary development environments, testing servers and projects with changing resource requirements, as well as for permanent production systems.

The standard VPS range starts with 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM and 10 GB NVMe storage. Larger packages provide up to 8 vCPU, 16 GB RAM and 160 GB storage. Custom virtual servers can be configured with as many as 24 vCPU, 128 GB RAM and 1 TB of NVMe storage.

Each standard VPS includes unmetered traffic through a connection of up to 200 Mbps.

Private Cloud reserves physical computing resources for a single customer. Virtual machines created inside the reserved infrastructure are not billed separately, allowing organizations to distribute their available processing power, memory and storage between several applications.

This service is appropriate for corporate platforms, regulated workloads and systems requiring predictable resource isolation.

Managed load balancing distributes traffic between VPS instances, dedicated servers, shared hosting accounts or external systems. Supported methods include Round Robin, Least Connections and Source-based distribution. Health checks remove unavailable systems from rotation, and clusters can contain up to three balancing nodes.

The physical infrastructure range includes dedicated servers, colocation, half racks, complete 42U racks and enterprise storage systems.

Dedicated servers are assembled according to the required processor, memory and disk configuration instead of being restricted to a small set of fixed packages. Two IP addresses are included, with one normally used for IPMI management.

Available operating systems include Ubuntu, CentOS and FreeBSD. Windows Server can be installed when an additional license is purchased.

Colocation covers individual servers and complete rack configurations. Installation, two IPv4 addresses and unmetered traffic are included with the basic server-placement service. Additional IP addresses, local network ports, higher bandwidth and backup storage can be ordered separately.

Masterhost’s Simply Mail platform provides business email using customer-owned domains. It supports encrypted connections, desktop and mobile mail clients, multiple domain administrators, spam and malware filtering and free migration from another email provider.

Separate mail plans differ by storage capacity and the number of supported domains. The smallest package supports one domain and 1 GB of storage, while larger packages provide more mailbox space and additional domains.

Domain services include Russian, Cyrillic, international and newer generic extensions. The company handles DNS administration, transfers, registration certificates and owner-information protection where the relevant registry supports it.

Registration services for .RU, .РФ and .SU domains are connected with the separate Registrar of Domains organization. International domain operations benefit from ICANN accreditation obtained in 2016.

The SSL range includes AlphaSSL and GlobalSign certificates. Available options cover domain validation, organization validation, wildcard protection and extended validation.

Entry-level certificates are suitable for standard encrypted websites, while OV and EV certificates add formal business verification and larger certificate warranties.

DDoS filtering is available at both network and application levels through DDoS-Guard. Layer 3 and Layer 4 protection can be activated for hosted infrastructure, while Layer 7 filtering is configured separately for HTTP and HTTPS applications.

The website, customer account, documentation and support information are available in Russian. No multilingual or localized version exists. Product prices are displayed in Russian rubles.

The interface uses a modern responsive layout and remains practical on desktop and mobile screens.
