Macquarie Telecom is a long-established Australian enterprise telecommunications, cloud, hosting and data-center provider founded in 1992. The business was co-founded by brothers David Tudehope and Aidan Tudehope, who remain closely involved more than three decades later. David Tudehope serves as Chief Executive, while Aidan Tudehope is Managing Director of the Hosting division. Macquarie Telecom forms part of the ASX-listed Macquarie Technology Group (macquarietechnologygroup.com), which brings together Macquarie Telecom, Macquarie Cloud Services, Macquarie Government and Macquarie Data Centres.

This is primarily an enterprise infrastructure provider rather than a conventional mass-market web host. Its services are built for medium and large organizations requiring Dedicated Servers, Managed Hosting, Private Cloud, Public Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, Colocation, Backup and Disaster Recovery, together with enterprise networking, cyber security and managed IT services. The company has operated hosting infrastructure since the early 2000s and expanded into private-cloud compute and storage in 2011.

Much of the hosting and cloud infrastructure is delivered through Macquarie Cloud Services (macquariecloudservices.com). The service range combines sovereign Australian private infrastructure with managed Microsoft Azure, hybrid cloud and dedicated physical servers. This makes the platform particularly suitable for organizations operating a combination of legacy applications, databases, virtual machines, regulated workloads and modern public-cloud services.

Dedicated Servers are available as bare-metal systems with KVM console access and Cisco UCS-based hardware, including hot-spare capacity. Customers can install their own operating systems or choose fully managed Windows or Linux environments. Managed servers include 24×7 monitoring, security hardening, patching, driver management, antivirus and host-based intrusion detection options, together with performance monitoring.

Managed VMware environments are also available, including ESX/vSphere deployments, multi-host clusters and multi-site configurations. Customers can administer virtual machines through the vSphere web environment. More specialized server configurations support GPU workloads, database licensing optimization and PCI-compliant applications.

The Launch Private Cloud platform provides dedicated Australian sovereign cloud infrastructure with a 99.95% uptime SLA. It combines dedicated support with predictable fixed monthly pricing and is particularly suitable for stable workloads where data sovereignty, infrastructure control and predictable operating costs are more important than hyperscale elasticity. Migration into Launch can be included without a separate migration charge, and suitable workloads can offer substantial cost advantages compared with continuously running equivalent public-cloud infrastructure.

Public-cloud services are centered on Microsoft Azure. Macquarie has more than 50 Azure-certified engineers and operates as an Azure Expert MSP. Services cover migration, architecture, optimization, governance, security and ongoing cloud management. Managed Azure customers receive Australian-based technical assistance with a 15-minute response commitment.

Macquarie Flex Hybrid Cloud combines Azure, Azure Local and sovereign infrastructure under a unified managed environment. The architecture uses Microsoft Azure Local with Dell APEX Cloud Platform and allows applications to be placed according to performance, regulatory, security and cost requirements. Security, governance and optimization are managed continuously by Australian teams.

Managed Hosting remains available for customers that want Macquarie to operate the underlying server environment. Management can include system provisioning, operating-system administration, security updates, patching, monitoring and alert handling. The Hosting Management Centre provides continuous supervision of managed platforms, with service-level guarantees reaching 100% for certain managed services.

Backup and Disaster Recovery services protect servers, virtual machines, colocation infrastructure and cloud workloads. Options include immutable off-site backups, validated recovery points, managed restores and 24×7 technical assistance. The use of immutable backup copies is particularly valuable for ransomware recovery because backup data can remain isolated from compromised production environments.

Colocation is available from individual racks through reserved rows, pods, private suites and larger custom deployments. Customers retain control of their own physical equipment while Macquarie supplies power, cooling, physical security and supporting data-center infrastructure. Intellihands remote-hands engineers can perform equipment resets, inspections, installations and other physical tasks. Customers can also monitor rack power consumption and physical access records online. Colocation includes 100% service-level guarantees for power and cooling.
