😠 I am a Certified PHP engineer, hosting sites primarily with another host whom I am very happy with. This host will rename nameless to keep my review legit.
I have had one ecommerce client on Kiwi Web host since 2006 now, and we have constantly been discussing moving the site to a more reliable and supported platform. However when things stabilize, the client tends to put the move on the back burner until the next problem.
I like to think I have alot of experience with various hosts in the 10 years I have been building websites, and the one word I would use to describe Kiwi Web Host is "amatuer". This word could be applied to both their technical infrastructure, and their customer support.
Here are a few issues experienced over the years to justify this:
1. Shared secure certificate FQD was changed one day without notifying customers. This caused all secure (checkout) pages to display 404 errors until we frantically adjusted the domain in site code.
2. We requested setting changes to our php.ini file that were put in place promptly, but reset at a later date. This happened 4 times in a row, and on the 4th notification of the issue, the customer rep stated that the changes had always been that way right through. Luckily I copied the phpinfo file prior to each request and was able to prove that the settings were changed. Thus, I caught the rep lying. (It was too obvious to be a simple mistake)
3. This host only upgraded to PHP 5 in 2009. Quite possibly the most behind-the-times PHP host in NZ.
4. Bandwidth overage fees are absolute daylight robbery. Most hosts in NZ offer at least unlimited NZ traffic.
5. The reason for me adding this review today is my client's hosting (Web and email) was down all day yesterday. Heh, that happens sometimes. But it came back up today, and PHP seems to be totally recompiled. There are many extensions missing that are usually basic inclusions for most PHP hosts. For instance GD library. In fact there is no image processing extension available on the server as of today.
Need less to say, I will again be pressing my client to move from this host.
Avoid Kiwi Web Host. $1 a day sounds like a good deal, but you aren't even getting what you pay for here. You can get far more stable and reputable NZ hosting for $30 a month with unmonitored bandwidth. Do a bit of research.

😠 I am currently looking for another web host.
Been with these guys for a number of years with my website going down a few times but today their whole server crashed with no back up to keep me online. Over 16 hours later and it is still not functioning.
Lost a lot of customers and money as a result of this and do not trust them anymore to host my site. I have no email access and cannot respond to customers. Very very very frustrating.
These guys used to be helpful and offer a great service but they were bought out by iServe and things got worse then they were bought out by Orcon and now their service is abysmal.
Their prices are cheap but don't go with them if you want reliability.
