*📜 Plan description

Attach an Nvidia T4 to any Katapult Rock or Boulder VM for flexible AI/ML acceleration, image generation, or GPU-parallel workloads. Specs: 16 GB VRAM, 2,560 CUDA cores, 320 Tensor cores, ~8.1 TFLOPS FP32, ~320 GB/s memory bandwidth. Pricing is hourly with a monthly cap (£0.3000/hr ≈ £201.60/mo) so you only pay while the GPU is attached; you can detach and reattach at any time without destroying the VM. Works across Linux or Windows guests and popular frameworks (CUDA, cuDNN, PyTorch, TensorFlow) and fits inference, lightweight training, video transcode, and remote desktop/visualization tasks. Because GPUs are add-ons, your VM size (vCPU/RAM/NVMe) is chosen independently, making it easy to right-size CPU/memory and scale storage or networking separately.

All Katapult compute runs on high-frequency AMD EPYC and triple-replicated NVMe system disks engineered for high availability. Networking includes pooled outbound transfer across your organization, free inbound/internal traffic, and inclusive DDoS protection. GPUs are billed independently from VM sizes, and you can pair them with block/file/object/backup storage and load balancers to build resilient ML or rendering stacks.

📄 Editorial Review

Katapult.io was a high-performance public cloud platform operated by Krystal, the UK hosting company founded in 2002 by Simon Blackler. Katapult functioned as Krystal’s advanced cloud infrastructure brand, focused on virtual machines, GPU compute, cloud storage, private networking, load balancing, firewalling, DDoS protection and API-based automation.

The standalone Katapult.io brand became inactive in April 2026, when the platform was migrated into Krystal Cloud. This was not a complete service closure, but a brand and platform migration: Katapult customers, infrastructure and technical management continued under the Krystal Cloud name, while the old Katapult.io domain redirected to Krystal.

Katapult was built for developers, agencies, SaaS platforms and businesses needing scalable public cloud infrastructure rather than traditional shared hosting. Its virtual servers used AMD EPYC processors and were split into CPU-optimized Rock instances and memory-optimized Boulder instances. The largest configurations reached up to 96 vCPU and very high RAM allocations, making the platform suitable for demanding workloads such as databases, application clusters, analytics, rendering and other compute-heavy services.

GPU compute became another important part of the offer. NVIDIA GPU options were available for workloads such as AI, machine learning, inference, rendering and high-performance computing. This gave Katapult a stronger technical profile than a normal VPS provider and placed it closer to infrastructure-as-a-service cloud platforms.

Storage was one of Katapult’s main strengths. The platform used all-flash distributed storage with triple replication for resilience, plus additional services such as block storage, Elastic File Storage / KEFS, S3-compatible object storage and offsite backups. The storage stack was designed for performance, redundancy and scalability, not just basic VPS disk space.

Sustainability was also central to the brand. Katapult operated under Krystal’s wider environmental strategy, using 100% renewable energy and benefiting from Krystal’s B Corp certification, achieved in January 2023. For companies looking for cloud infrastructure with a lower environmental footprint, Katapult was one of the more distinctive independent UK/EU-focused options.
