iWeb was one of Canada’s better-known infrastructure hosting brands, based in Montreal, Quebec. The business began in 1996, when Eric Chouinard and Martin Leclair started the company that later became iWeb Technologies in 1998. After many years as an independent Canadian hosting provider, iWeb was acquired by INAP in 2013, then acquired by Leaseweb in August 2021. The standalone iWeb brand was later migrated into Leaseweb Canada, with the transition completed in February 2023.

Today, iweb.com is inactive as a separate hosting company and redirects to Leaseweb Canada. The brand should therefore be understood as a historically important Canadian provider that became part of a larger global hosting and infrastructure group.

iWeb specialized in Cloud Hosting, Dedicated Servers, Colocation, CDN, storage, network services, and managed infrastructure. They were not a typical shared-hosting provider, and customers looking for basic low-cost web hosting packages would not have found that as the main focus. Their stronger value was in business infrastructure, dedicated hardware, cloud environments, and Canadian data center services.

Their cloud platform supported both Linux and Windows servers and used SolidFire SSD storage. The cloud infrastructure was powered by OpenStack and included unlimited inbound and outbound traffic, QoS, burstable IOPS, and renewable-energy positioning. This made iWeb suitable for companies needing scalable cloud resources with predictable performance.

Their dedicated servers were configurable with Intel processors, single or dual CPU setups, DDR3/DDR4 memory, SATA/SAS/SSD storage, 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps ports, and NAS/SAN block storage. Virtualization options included Hyper-V, Xen.org, and VMware ESXi. This gave iWeb a stronger enterprise and technical profile than many smaller Canadian hosting companies.

The website was historically available in English, French, and Spanish, which made the company accessible for Canadian, North American, and international customers. After the migration, the Canadian operation continued under Leaseweb Canada, with a stronger focus on the Canadian market and local Montreal infrastructure.
